It was cool outside, and dark, the squat buildings making vague outlines against the forest. He could feel the breeze prickling along his skin, and the sensation made him distantly irritated in a way that he couldn't quite place.

There was a kitten here.

A fucked up kitten who couldn't remember anything, but a kitten nonetheless. Farfarello had no idea why Ken apparently couldn't remember him, nor did he care. The kitten could die just as easily whether he remembered or not. Reasons didn't matter. All that mattered was seeing something dark splatter and stain on shine of steel and shuddering skin and hearing the thick wet noise of a knife entering flesh. He wanted to see the roll of eyes, to hear the breath quicken and the heart beat fast and then slow and stop. Slice and slash. So good.

So pretty. Farfarello stopped in the shadow of a hut, glimpsing the Weiss assassin. His smile widened.

He'd cut those fucking wings off first.

Ken stopped short, tensing. He felt like he was being watched--and that feeling was never good.

He had no weapons except his own fists, feet, training, and instincts--the latter two of which were screaming at him to put his back to something and right the fuck now. He was vulnerable--in pain, unaware of his surroundings, even his muscles felt like they were attached differently, and he couldn't count on the others to back him up when he didn't know if they were here, much less alive.

He swung around and winced as his new wings were flattened against the wall of one of the huts. His eyes weren't adjusted to the darkness, but they would be soon enough--there was no light except for the moon and stars, and those were unfamiliar.

He stayed quiet and still, watching and listening for any sign of attack.

[Hope you had good sleepings :D]

Farfarello was waiting, his fingers curling and uncurling around the smooth hilt of his knife [fucking Malnosso who'd took his poniard, they'd pay for that as soon as he found them], the rest of his body still save for a slight excited hitch in his breathing. It wasn't audible, just present, just enough to signal that the thrill was about to start.

It was difficult to wait there, difficult to stay in the shadow of the other hut and see what the kitten would do. He wanted to - he was going to -run out and pin the Hidaka against the wall he was flattened against, wanted to fix him there with his knife until he couldn't move anymore. The walls were perfect for pinning things to.

He wasn't going to wait much longer. He hadn't killed anyone in a long time. Too long, too long to wait. The animals screamed just like a storybook, what the bloody hell had they been thinking, talking badgers and a fucking Bambi in the woods like people, but not as good, never as good.

Didn't hurt Him as much.

Ken knew not to stay still--only the dead stopped moving, stopped watching, stopped listening. He moved as quietly as he could against the wall, keeping it at his back--it was stupid of him to go out so soon, damn stupid and now he was paying for it in paranoia.

Paranoia didn't mean that there wasn't someone out there waiting to get you.

There was light in the distance. Ken moved himself closer to that, hyperaware of even the slightest sound and movement in the gathering shadows. He looked young--inexperienced--and felt about the same way.
