Hitsugaya needed this distraction. He was by no means a social person, but it ironically was easier for him to clear his mind around the crowds. Solitude tends to lead to overthinking. Nevertheless, he made sure his mask was firmly in place before allowing himself to drift closer to the center of the room. Not one face looked familiar...

No matter. Hitsugaya felt oddly content while listening to the strange music.

Of course, Toshirou would never in his life be able to avoid the careful eye of self-proclaimed mentor and a fan of similar festivities, Jushirou Ukitake. And though the elegant Victorian coat, top hat, cane, and vampire fangs did a lot to enhance Jushirou's appearance, his smile and demeonor were unmistakable as he made his way up to his good friend.

"How fare you, good sir!" he greeted from behind his simple red domino mask.

If it were not for the voice, Hitsugaya would have mistaken the approaching man for someone else, even with the white hair; the costume seemed to change more than just appearance. Unfortunately, Hitsugaya did not share the same festive mood, and managed a slight bow in response.

"Looking for a good time, Ukitake?" he tilted his head, looking over the costume. "I almost didn't recognize you."

"And just who else do YOU know who could sport a look like this so well, eh?" Jushirou responded with a chuckle, rolling his hat off of his head and catching it in his hand as part of a flourished European bow to his friend and fellow captain, giving Toshirou a wink as he did so.

"And yes, after months of being cooped up in my house for hours at a time, I feel it's time I had myself a gala, yes? Shall we find a pair of lucky misses to make merriment with, good chap?"

Sasarai felt remarkably awkward in the outfit he was given. Was he supposed to be a vampire? A ghost? What on earth was this? It seemed oddly familiar, though...he felt certain he had seen a photo of a man wearing such an outfit before during his time investigating unaccounted for True Runes. The name Penenburg came to mind, but that was about it...

And damn the wig was itchy. Ah well, he tried to look as pleasant as possible, donning a white feathered eye mask as he entered the area and gave smiling waves to various people. Many of whom he tried and failed to recognize.

Oh bother.

Rohan was known to wear some fairly bizarre outfits. It was a reflection of his aesthetics, after all, to be seen wearing colorful and oftentimes outlandish statements of fashion that, really, no one should really ever wear in public OUTSIDE of Tokyo. And yet he did. And often.

This outfit was no exception, though he was at least TRYING to think within the spectrum of "costume". The mask he wore was, in line with the outfit, very much Mandarin in design. Rohan himself had only been to China once, but he didn't let it stop him from embracing its artistic merits...bizarrely.

Now who didn't see this coming? I know I did! With a grin, Usagi twirls, admiring the inside of the mansion. She was more than happy to have come here because not only does she get to dress up, but there was free food. It was like an oasis in the desert, too bad she doesn't have the heart to guess that this could turn out bad.

And the buffet table is where anyone will find her, stuffing her face with anything she can find.

Al had shuffled into his costume the best he could (leaving the eyepatch behind) and hustled off to the mansion to meet Usagi. Balls were.. not his thing. He was a country kid and a scientist, when it came down to it, but he knew how to handle himself at these things - better than Edward, at least.

He sees Usagi pretty quickly when he makes it to the mansion, at the buffet table. But he's too busy chuckling over his strange costume to really think about it. He goes over and taps her on the shoulder.

Usagi was pretty content stuffing her face with the fancy mini sandwiches, trying to keep away from the candy, at least until she'd had enough of everything else. Stuffing another mini sandwich in her mouth, she about chokes when Al suddenly taps her on the shoulder. She spins around, blue eyes wide, and pounding on her chest to keep from choking. She quickly takes a drink from the glass she'd grabbed earlier and lets out a huge sigh of relief.

"Trying to kill me, huh?" She said it all rather jokingly, and even prodded him a little with her index finger,"I see how you are now!"

Al was startled by the reaction. He thought she would have heard him, maybe, or at least not have choked. When she seemed okay, he smiled a little. Her outfit, well... being who he was, he was just shyly keeping himself from minding it. It wasn't as bad as Psiren's getup.

"I didn't mean to scare you, Usagi!"

When Jack heard there was a ball, his curiosity got the best of him. While the town's transformation and those of some of the townspeople today were thanks to his and Sally's efforts, the Malnosso seemed to have taken things a step further. Unable to resist the lure of a celebration so large on Halloween, he came, quite impressed with the efforts made in decorating.

Looking at all this, he couldn't help but be reminded of home and a smile came to his features.

"The other's back home would've loved this..."

"You stick out of the crowd, sir," Sai stood merely a few feet from Jack, staring. "Are you in charge of this?"
He swayed unsteadily as he tried to keep his gaze on the tall, skeletal figure. His costume consisted of a simple suit with a gaudy bow tie, but once he had slipped it on, the transformation surprised him. Sai now appeared as a life-sized ventriloquist dummy. So far his biggest problems related to standing still on spindly legs.

"I could say the same for you, boy." Jack's smile is pleasant as he stares back at the younger male-turned-dummy. The boy's pale, wooden appearance, limbs segmented like those of an actual puppet truly made quite the frightening costume. He couldn't help but notice the slight shake in the boy's stance and one bony hand reached out instinctively in offering.

"Are you alright? Seems my spell hasn't given everyone the most practical of forms..."

Sai tried his best to smile with his new face; it didn't quite work the way he wanted. "Is that a costume though? I think, even without it, you would be frightening with your height." He tilted his head, now losing his balance completely.

He stopped himself from hitting the floor by taking the other's hand. This whole thing was difficult to get used to, but thankfully Sai was a very patient person. "It is an interesting experience for everyone. Do not worry about the consequences," he replied as he attempted to right himself again. "My name is Sai."
