Sena was in the backyard of Ken's house, studying the signs of struggle in the dusted snow. He'd pulled Ken's claws out of the snowdrift and cleaned them as best he could, tucking them inside his jacket. He turned at Aya's approach.

"There had to have been at least six of them."

Aya scanned the grounds quickly, coming fast to the same conclusion. He was a little out of breath and took a moment to recover while studying the signs.

"I'm going after him." His voice didn't invite any arguments. He flipped open his journal and checked if Omi had left him a message.

"Omi's in the third floor of the first apartment building. It'd be best if you'd stay with him."

"...there's no way I'm letting you go out there alone." Sena said shortly. "They got Ken, and we both know that he can fight back."

"Hn." Aya glanced at Sena with a quirk of his brow, but didn't argue further. He'd rather get going.

"Fine." He took a moment to reply to Omi before closing the the journal and nodded. "We better go then."

Sena nodded in agreement. Itsuki had said that no one had succeeded in rescuing the captured people before.

But that didn't mean they weren't going to try.

"The lab is on the other side of the mountains, it'll probably take us at least half a day to get there," Sena said, starting to quickly walk toward the bridge and the mountains beyond it.

"Lets hurry. If there's any kind of possibility that we'll still catch the party that took Ken, we should at least try doing just that." Aya tucked the journal under his coat before running after Sena, and past him actually. He had meant what he said.

Even if they wouldn't succeed in finding the laboratory, some research on the mountains wouldn't hurt.

Besides, Aya didn't think he could just wait around and worry. He'd had to do something.

Sena broke into a run to catch up to Aya, darting over the bridge and into the snow on the other side. There was no real need for talking, Sena just ran. He wasn't quite as fast as Aya, his legs were shorter, but he was still fast enough to keep up.

[ooc: If they like... fly the kidnapping victims to the lap, I'M SORRY! XD I take back my tag! And if you'd rather keep up the pace, feel free to jump over the whole action scene. I wasn't sure what you wanted, so I paused there. :) And uh, feel free to write Aya get hurt too. I don't really care as long as he's not badly hurt. ♥ ]Where the streets of tightly packed snow ended, it was easy to follow the footprints in the snow. They ran, as far as they could, hope springing up at the sight of the fresh marks in the snow. But as time passed, breathing fell heavier, heart raced and no sign of the kidnapping party emerged in the snowy scenery, the inevitable loss of faith had to happen. The party moved fast, faster than they could manage ( ... )

Too bad for the critter (a large cat, Sena decided,) that Sena had claws of his own. He leaped up and backwards from the attack, though too late to avoid getting a nasty set of claw wounds, hand going to the small case at his belt. He didn't so much as fumble pulling his weapon from its holder, his hand steady as it found the catch that extended the blade to meet in a deadly hoop.

His eyes narrowed, tracking the mountain lion's approach before throwing his weapon. The lion dodged it, but it was now wary of Sena.

The chakram circled back, Sena caught it in one gloved hand.

If Sena's weapon or his battle readiness surprised Aya, he did not give any inclination of such. He spun to a opposite direction when Sena was already pulling out his weapon and attacking. His blade came out with a metallic hiss as he regarded the situation, realizing just now his mistake. If this furry enemy here wouldn't be alone, it would have been wiser to stay close to Sena.

Aya spared the curses for later and jumped into action. He aimed towards the animal's head with his saia, not willing to kill if it was possible to scare the attacker away. Animals usually didn't attack if they weren't mad from hunger or frenzied from fear. He hoped the lion's survival instincts would kick in eventually.

That was if it was alone.

And just as if on a cue, the bushes behind Sena spat out two more, the other jumping at the boy while the other circled around slowly. Aya's hit missed its target but he didn't pause when the big cat spun around, instead he used the opening to dash closer to Sena.

Aya may have held in his curse, but Sena gave in to his desire to. He slashed at the lion, drawing a line of blood across its nose.

This could get nasty quickly. "I didn't know these things hunted in groups!" He swung his chakram around again, causing another lion to back up with a snarl. Being attacked, it was getting dark, it was cold, snowing...this was not the smartest thing to do ever. Ironic, if Aya and Sena died trying to rescue Ken.

"I didn't know they hunted people," Aya muttered as he decided that it was time to forget being kind towards the animals. His grip around the hilt of his katana shifted a little, inching the cutting edge to a better suited position. When he attacked, the saia swung first towards the circling lion. The animal dodged that one easily, but wasn't prepared for the next. Boot digging to the snow heavily, Aya punched the weight of his momentum to a different direction, the same one the lion was dodging towards. His katana came down mercilessly and painted the snow red with blood.

The lion yelped pitifully as it fell. Aya didn't have time to find out more as he was too busy staggering past the dying animal, claws and teeth sinking to his back as the lion he had left behind had used the clear opening to its advantage and was now attached to the assassin's back with its sharp appendage.

Sena cursed again and slammed a kick into the head of the lion he was fighting, dazing it, then quickly slashed its throat. "...aren't we supposed to be able to talk to these things? HEY! Get off him!"

Though since the lion had a mouthful of Aya, there was no response. Sena gritted his teeth and slashed at the base of the creature's head with his bloodstained chakram.

Sena's weapon sunk in the animal's flesh at the same time as Aya's katana slid into its side and punctured another hole to its back when coming out. There was no yelp this time, just wet gurgling and quick spasms of clenching muscles before the lion went limb and slipped down from Aya's back.

He bit his teeth together to keep inside any protests for the claws that slipped out from his flesh. His wings were torn, bloodied feathers raining down in the wake of the dead animal.

"Fuck... this shit," was all he said between tight lips. He shifted a bit as he eyed the surroundings to make sure the danger had ceased. He had been in luck, nothing important was broken, just flesh wounds which would eventually clot and suck in the fabric of his shirt as a new skin. Patching up later would be pain in the ass, but better than having an artery ripped open or bones broken.

Sena looked over the damage to Aya himself. "...want me to try to patch you up?" His shirt would make passable bandages, but maybe not enough to completely clean and bind the wounds.

"...We should go back. You're injured, it's getting dark, and it's snowing. We're not equipped for this, and we don't know the terrain." They wouldn't be doing Ken any favors by dying while trying to rescue him. Sena didn't want to leave him out there, but...there it was.

"No." Aya bit his teeth together after snapping out the one word that would answer everything Sena had said and asked.

Even if Ken didn't know who the hell Aya was, he knew who Ken was and having few wounds wouldn't turn him from this path.

Although, he wasn't here alone. And while he didn't know who Sena was, he could relate to this problem with his situation with Ken. Aya didn't want to risk the boy's life. If he could convince Sena to go back and help Omi...

"I'll go check a little further on my own. You go back and report to Omi. Grab some light and bandages, and meet me at the foot of the mountain."

He didn't think it was going to work. But it was worth a shot.
