[Birthday parties do not have to be disasters. Luceti has reminded him of this fact once again, and today is the day he'd hoped most of all would be wonderful.

He did his best with the preparations - without anyone to help until today, there had been some near misses. But everything looks great, and Giles can be found on the edge of things, admiring the look of the living room, of their house.

But, this lasts only as long as he's left alone. When a friend comes near, or the birthday boy himself, Giles abandons any and all social anxieties to make sure everyone is having a good time. He's happy, and at ease, and it shows.]

I think we did a good job with all this.

[Ginia takes a spot by his side, having been directed over to him by one of the guests, and smiles at him.]

We did a wonderful job. [Giles sounds decidedly proud.] Back in Sunnydale, someone would already have died by now.

[That earns a slap on the arm, but also a sharp laugh.]

Back in Davenport, we would have thrown someone into the shark tank by now.

Oh, you only had sharks? Tsk, such a shame. Sounds terribly dull.

[Yes, the severed arm had been the start of such much that was so much worse. But it was a long time ago, and they won in the end.]

Sharks and strippers. Winning combination for a birthday party, I say.

Not both at the same time, I hope.

[He looks theatrically aghast at the thought.]

Hm... strippers in shark tanks, there's an idea for later. A pity we couldn't get either one for this party.

Somehow, I don't think Helios would have given either quite the appreciation you seem to.

[He takes her hand and attempts to give her a twirl. Just because.]

[And she will twirl with a small giggle. This new, sweet, romantic, playful Giles? She likes it.]

Not even a stuffed shark plush? Or how about gummy sharks? I think Helios could appreciate a tank of gummy sharks.

[She moves in to him, hands on his chest.]

How about you? I could give you a lap dance on your birthday.

Not in front of however many guests the two of you manage to collect, you wouldn't.

Besides. I'd prefer some books of my own. I'm getting tired of having to borrow from the library.

[He holds her against him and twirls her around, so that he's facing the wall and so can say without being terribly obvious:] Not that I'm saying no, mind.

...and now you've got me wondering what I should get you.

Books! Almost too predictable, but perfect.

[She laughs softly as their positions are switched, pulling him just a touch closer and dropping her voice down.] Something private, when we're alone and everyone's left?

As for for me, nothing. I don't need anything. Though there is something appealing about you stripping down...

Giving you something you already have is no fun. [He lowers his voice along with hers'. In a few minutes, they'll part to attend to the guests and ensure that nothing explodes and the party goes well. But there's something nice about being in their own private little world.]

I have horrible luck with birthdays, you know that. You can help me practice.

I could always use more. [Today is all about Helios, there's no doubt about that, but it's also nice stealing away for a few private moments. After that, they'll go on as if nothing ever transpired.]

Really? All right, you can start with Link's birthday. April fifth.

Then later on, you can have it. Since you're being so patient, and all. [And, as though nothing has happened, he twirls her back around to face the party again.]

Provided that nothing turns out to be murderously possessed, poisonous, or flammable? Yes, I think I can manage that.

Especially for Link.

I like the sound of that. [And back around she is. She takes a small step back from him. Close and cuddly? No, of course not.]

I will do my best to ensure none of the above is around in any capacity. [Though April Fools day is only a few days before...]

And you are not to tell anyone about my birthday. I don't want anything and it's not worth celebrating anyway.
