[When she first picked up a couple of cookbooks from the library to flip through, Pao-lin's first instinct had been to, of course, try BAKING ALL THE THINGS. But she finally pared down her list of potential baking conquests to three treats: chocolate chip cookies, gingerbread men, and peppermint brownies.

Catch in the midst of trying to make any one of these, or taking a rest while she waits for stuff to finish baking, or anything, really. The type of activity and company are new experiences to her, but it's one that she's finding that she enjoys.]

[ Madoka had been trying to make some stuff herself, but she mostly felt she wasn't good enough at it to do a lot of things herself. Instead she finds herself staring at one of the other girls a little as she makes gingerbread men. ]

Wow, you're making them so fast..! [ Faster than she does, either way, so she's marvelling at Pao-lin's work. ]

[Pao-lin glances up from where she's using a cookie cutter on the gingerbread dough, a bit startled.]

Ah...n-not really. But I guess I am working a little faster than before. [She'd made the chocolate chip cookies earlier, and while she's no expert it gave her the inertia needed to plow ahead on the gingerbread cookie recipe.]

Maybe.. um.. you could teach me a little..

[ she giggles, slightly awkwardly. ]

I'm not really good with all of this yet.

I'm not, either! It takes a little while to get going, but as long as you follow directions it should be okay. This wasn't too hard of a recipe, I don't think. [She smiles and hands the cookie cutter to Madoka.] Wanna try? My arms are getting a bit tired already.

S-sure! [ she nods, carefully taking the cutter. ] I just need to press this in here, right? That can't be too hard, so I should be able to do it..

[ she seems to be trying to encourage herself, but then she does start working - slowly and carefully - as she presses the cutter into the dough to make shapes. ]

Yeah, it's easy! And when you run out of space to cut cookies, just scrunch up the remaining dough and then flatten it with the rolling pin before cutting stuff out again. [There's a rolling pin just off to the side, next to some other cooking implements.]

[ she cuts a few more cookies, but.. yes, she does run out of space, so she tries to scrunch it up the best she can before taking the roller. ]

Hmm.. Ah, I think it's working! [ a little surprised. ] It's a little hard to get used to, but.. it seems like a lot of fun.

It's a good workout, don't you think? [And considering who's saying this, that's pretty significant.] But relaxing, too. We should do this more often.

Hehe, I'm not really used to working out, but this seems like a little more fun than that.. Especially when you're doing it together with friends. [ a nod. ]

I'm glad Yui-chan asked me to come..

I'm glad, too. [She cracks her fingers casually as she speaks her next words.] It's so easy to meet and talk to people here. Not like back home.

... Eh? [ she blinks a few times, almost curiously. ]

You didn't think it was easy to meet people back home?

Not really. I had to be homeschooled because of my job, and my job made it hard to go out much. And Sternbild is a really big city -- you can't easily walk around it like you can in Luceti. You'd need a car, or take the bus or the train or something.

Ah.. I'm s-sorry. That sounds like it'd be pretty lonely though, if you couldn't meet a lot of people..

[She nods.]

It kinda was, but I'm used to being alone, so it wasn't too bad, I guess. What about you -- what's it like back in your world?
