Who:slaying and consultmybooks
What: Watcher and Slayer talk on the way to the tunnels.
When: The morning of October 26th
Where: Outside of Building 7, before proceeding towards the tunnels.
Summary: Despite a bad night courtesy of the Phanto Mask, Buffy and Giles have a date to keep. Knowing is always better. But Buffy has dropped enough hints of what he's missing that Giles is uneasy facing the return of three years of his life. At his request, Buffy has agreed to fill in the blanks before John does the rest.
Rating: Given the seasons and the happenings in question, PG-13 just to be safe.
Giles didn't remember much of last night. But from what he'd been able to piece together...it hadn't been a good night. And this had mostly been his fault.

Helios, of course, was the most obvious evidence of this. Giles had left when the magician was still asleep. Hadn't known what to say, and still didn't. To say nothing of the others, Buffy chief among them.

And he didn't remember what he'd said, but...just in case, as he walked down the last flight of steps, he opened his journal and wrote a message, filtered to her. Four simple words:

"Ready when you are."

A sign, as much as anything, that he was himself today, this most important day. If she chose to respond? Wonderful. He'd been depending on her help. And he might be able to take it as a sign that last night hadn't been as catastrophic as he'd feared. Buffy was the only one left in Luceti who knew what he would be getting himself into, and if he knew...

...knowing was always better.

If she didn't reply?

...well, it wasn't as though it was a long walk.

With a sigh, Giles settled himself on the bottom step to wait. As was fast becoming habit, he let his eyes drift up towards the leering, looming moon. If only he could think up a way to stop it...

He'd give her some time. She might be sleeping late. With the moon in the sky now larger than the sun, it would be a miracle if his had been the only sleepless night.
