[Terra can be found outside, staring at the Rec Center with uncertainty. She's heard about the celebration, but the thought of being among so many people has her a bit uneasy. How many of them know her and her secrets? How many will be disappointed when she doesn't remember them? It's all a bit overwhelming to think about, and so she's frozen where she is, indecisive.

[Enter one sunglasses wearing fuzzy elf. It's been awhile since he crossed paths with Terra. Kind of a side effect of school ending. When he sees her, he grins and walks on over.]

Hey Terra, it's been awhile.

[Terra turns, and stares, eyes widening. An Esper, here?!?]

[...no, wait, he doesn't feel the same to her senses. She's at once disappointed and apologetic, for news that she doesn't want to give. Her voice is soft, hesitant...yet curious.]

Who are you? People have told me that I've been here before, but...I don't really remember that.

[She doesn't know him? That's... surprising. But now that he looks at her closer, he can see that she does look different. Just... subtly younger, a little.]

Ahh... that's too bad. I guess we'll have to start over, then. I'm Kurt.

[It's hard not to stare at him, too. At least the reason is probably evident; she's not used to encountering others that aren't quite human.]

I'd like that. I'm--

[Embarrassed pause. Silly Terra. He already knows who she is.]

...is it okay to ask what you are?

[Well. He's sort of used to the staring. So he doesn't let it bother him much. The question of what he is often comes up too.]

I'm a mutant. It's ahh... sort of complicated. Mutants are humans with something called the X-Gene. For most of us, we just get special powers. For some of us... like me, we don't exactly end up looking normal.

Special powers...like magic?

[She looks thoughtful. Perhaps these mutants and Espers aren't so different.]

[Oh, time to demonstrate.]

Not exactly. Watch this. [He steps back and without any need to chant or call upon any magic, he immediately vanishes in a puff of smoke, reappearing behind her.]

Maybe not the coolest power, but still handy.

[Terra whirls around, gasping.]

You...wow. You didn't need to do anything at all. It was instant!

Exactly! No magic involved.

[It makes him feel a little special still. Even though Terra knows a teleport spell of her own.]

[Terra smiles, strangely more at ease once she has a moment to absorb that shock.]

That's incredible, Kurt.

And...people here, they don't mind? They accept you?

[If they accept him...then, it might not be so bad for her. But she's not sure she's ready to fly around the only way she can.]

[Right now he's hiding his own eyes. Because he doesn't want to freak people out the party anymore than his presence usually does. But even beyond that...]

Most do. If they don't... well it's their loss. There's no reason to hide. [He says this as someone who knows what Terra has to hide. But even then...] But you've got to decide that for yourself, yeah?

[She nods slowly.]

So...you know. About me.

[Given his appearance and the fact that he's familiar with her, it's not a huge leap. That doesn't unnerve her as it did when other people found out, though. Probably be cause he's much less 'normal' than them.]

[He nods.]

When we first met, I had a watch that made me look normal. But it was just a trick. So... I showed you what I looked like. And then you showed me your other form. [He avoids saying her true form. Because it's different than his own situation and he knows it.]

I see.

[She smiles again, shy but grateful.]

I'm glad you're not wearing that watch now. It's...easier to know that you know, this way.
