I guess the change in my pocket wasn't enough )
Maybe it was best not to think too much on the details. The promise of a fun evening was good enough and it was nice knowing Cloud Nine was back up and open.
That is what brought one Ginia Solana, dressed to the nines in her best cocktail dress, to the reopening of Cloud Nine with her not-kinda-it's-complicated-date Rupert Giles.

...he kept telling himself that. Things between him and Ginia had been a bit...odd, since his return. Really, this was probably what they needed to sort things out.
Giles managed to track down a new suit in the clothing shop at the last minute - it fits him well. Even so, it's with the air of the consummate wall flower that he usually winds up observing the proceedings rather nervously from a point just behind Ginia's shoulder, when he's not off on his own people watching or taking a break from the noise and the crowds.
Speaking of noise and crowds...
"It's, it's never this active when I;m working."

She hears his words and takes a moment to look over the crowd and all the people gathered, quite happy to see such a positive turnout (and on a Monday, though everyday is practically a weekend in Luceti).
/Parties have a way of bringing people out. I think it's nice seeing so many people here. Are you going to perform tonight?/

The guitar was resting near the table they'd commandeered for themselves upon arrival, safe and sound in the knowledge that Giles could and would brutally retaliate against anyone who damaged it.
The crowd is currently drawing Giles' attention as well. Dawn's birthday was the last one he attended, and that was...well, a while ago.

Ginia smiles warmly and gives his hand a fond pat. He had his guitar, he was good at it, it'd be a shame to not let him have some time up on stage. Besides, between her and Frederic on the piano, the nightclub needed someone else to break up the piano playing. At least until they could get their band together.
She stops to watch everything again. The last time she was at a party, it was for the first opening with Kay and her smile fades slightly. Would Kay approve of all of this? She liked to think so. However, tonight was not a night for introspection. There'd been enough of that over the last few days and she was looking forward to having a bit of fun.
/What will it be? Drinks or hitting the dance floor?/

He missed the opening, by virtue of being out on the beach collecting his thoughts, and Giles is still sorry about that. But now seems a good time to pick up the slack. A performance tonight and more to come.
...might as well jump in with both feet.

/I'm not sure they have tea here, but I could probably wrangle a teapot from the kitchen./ She gently teases before she glances over at the buffet table. /So lacking tea, pick your poison./

"Any whiskey on hand? Or, um, someone who can mix something up?"

/What do you want me to mix you? You should I am one of the bartenders here. But what is it, Giles, picking the lesser of two evils here?/

"Without hesitation. Ever heard of a Dark and Stormy?"

/Highball glass, dark rum on the rocks, pour in ginger beer, garnish with a lime wedge if you want. Gosling's Black Seal rum is most often used, I'd have to use whatever they have here. Common variant is to use light rum for a Light and Stormy./

...the recitation is still good enough to earn a quick round of applause.
"Couldn't have said it better myself."

/Let me take a look at the bar and I'll be back with your drink. Any alternatives in case they don't have rum or ginger beer?/

Tonight, the fates are back on her side as she finds some bottles of ginger beer amongst the soda and some dark rum. With grace and speed, she grabs a highball glass, fills it with ice, and pours in the liquids, calculating the amount going in through pure experience and a bit of math. Slice one lime for wedges, and you have one beautiful drink.
There might be a touch of pride in her smile and step as she returns with his drink.
((ooc; Send me a PM with songs Giles would like to play. Trying to figure out a set list for the three of them.))

You respect the bartender or you don't drink. It was a rule he lived by growing up as a gang brat and even as a trainee Watcher. And you appreciated a drink like this, because you wouldn't get it often.
And so, with a happy "cheers" he takes an appreciative gulp and his approval is very much evident.
