[What will happen will happen, and Karai had brought this upon herself. He does not regret his decision, nor will he ever. He turns on his journal, and waits for Karai to pick hers up. When she does, he speaks in a cool tone that gives little away.]

I am North of you by two miles in the forest. Come to me. Bring my gauntlet with you, and make sure that it is sharp.

[Voice]

[...that's not exactly what she expected.

[Any number of possibilities spring to mind. She moves to collect the gauntlet, even as she questions him, uncertainty clear in her voice.]

Well. This is not a conversation she will have over the journals. She closes it without comment-- no as you command, for once, not trusting her voice-- but she's on her way.]

[He sets down the journal and waits for her. It will take her a few minutes to get here, in that time he meditates on the forest floor.

When she arrives he makes no movement to indicate that she is there. After a few minutes he speaks quietly.]

Meditate with me. Put the gauntlet there.

[He indicates the area infront of him.]

[Karai pads silently forward, kneeling to place the gauntlet down, before backing away to a respectful distance and joining him on the ground.

Meditate. She will... at least be calm and quiet.]

[They are quiet for a while before Ch'rell speaks again.]

What would you say that your purpose is, Karai?

[His eyes remain closed, and his posture is upright, but not tense.]

To serve my master, loyally and with honour.

[There is no hesitation, but a certain heaviness to her words that indicates Karai already knows she has failed in this regard.]

[Ch'rell opens his eyes and picks up the gauntlet. Such a beauty blades were, it is a pity that the recent generations of humans could not appreciate them like they did so many centuries ago.]

Yes, indeed.

[He looks directly at her.]

When I found you, you were nothing. Yet I invested time and effort into you to make you something worth having around. I do not consider my time and effort to be wasted, though recent events has made me start to think otherwise.

[Karai lowers her head. Recent events. That quite some time must have passed since he was exiled does not cross her mind; even if that were several years ago, to an alien thousands of years old it would be a bare blink of an eye.

Any explanation, reason, apology-- excuses, and she won't give them even if he would accept them. So she says nothing at all.]

[He does not expect her to give any. He had taught her far better than that.

He puts the gauntlet on and flexes his fingers, enjoying the familiar heaviness.]

You do not know this Karai, but you betray me again in the future. That betrayal cost me terribly, for it destroyed me completely.

--no. Her head snaps up to stare at him in shock.]

Destroyed? Father, I--

[No. Why would she-- how could she-- she swore--

You had done it to protect the Turtles when I had set out to destroy them.

[Ch'rell stands up, towering over her with a dark scowl.]

Why are you so intent on keeping the Turtles alive, Karai?

She can't process that yet. Not in the face of his anger. Karai flinches back, less from the proximity of those blades and more from the sound of his voice, like a chastened child.]

You do not need to understand Karai. Now face your punishment.

[He prepares himself for the strike. The first blow will cut her throat, and the second blow will behead her.]
