[Generally, Asch doesn't get out that much, as far as socializing goes. Doesn't visit around, doesn't go out of his way to meet new people or even see familiar ones. Just part of his typical behaviour. Unfortunately sometimes fate demands that he go and talk to people. Such a novel concept. A man has to do what a man has to do, though. And a man has to eat. Generally when he's hungry. A particular craving, however, means that when you break something you need to cook that craving with means that you need a replacement. And when there's none to be found at the store...
