Who: crisis_rain & divinearrow What: By request. When: Forward dated to June 20th timezones Where: Starting at the bridge by house 12 Summary: Wherein Raven and Casey have "a talk". (And she probably punches him >:) Rating: PG tips.
[she was leaning against the railing, looking down into the water. she was lost in her own thoughts as she waited for the older man to arrive.
for the past several days she had gone out to an isolated area where she just cleared her mind and practiced her bow. it was the only way for her to think-to figure out what everything that had transpired meant. but one statement stuck in her mind more than anything else.
I'm not about to lose you for a second time.
despite his protests, she knew she had heard him. honestly, who did he think he was talking to? a second time...
she had already had felt this uncanny "familiar" feeling whenever she was around him, and then there was everything else that had happened (or not happened) between them.
but now it was finally time. to figure out what exactly was going on.
when she heard his footsteps, she looked up at him, straightening as she did.]
[As he approached her, his mind was becoming a blur. He was cautious, well guarded, and desperately making sure not to show any of those insecurities to her. Even though his thoughts were scattered, he kept a casual posture and tried to treat this as any normal encounter. He's always been a tough nut to crack as it is, he just had to keep that up for a little longer.
When he saw her look towards him, he passed her a friendly wave. Keep it cool old man, he'd already slipped up once.]
[He nods in acknowledgement before he begins to follow her, unsure of what to say or whether it was worth saying anything. Though, he was curious as to where she planned to take him, maybe he'll just find out when they get there.]
[it'll take a few minutes, but he'll soon notice that they're heading out further and deeper into the forest. any sounds from the village gradually disappear as they continue walking, Casey never saying a word or looking back.
soon they arrive at a small clearing. if Raven looked carefully, he may notice the various notch marks on the trees that could have been made by only one thing.]
One question. You promised to answer one question truthfully, and the fact that you're trying to hide it clearly means that this will be some kind of secret.
[she's thought about this, and honestly she really doesn't want to know his past. she also couldn't think of any time in the future where she would need for him to tell truth about a current lie. she wanted to know only one thing.]
Back in the jungle, when we were leaving that passage, you said that you did not want to lose me for a second time. This is the first time I've met you, Raven, and I can't think of any time during my stay in Luceti that would involve you "losing" me.
Asking you when, where, and how would be pointless. I can already guess it involved the battle at Mt. Temza. [since that's where she died and could be considered "lost".]
I never thought I would actually ask this, mostly because I had no reason to. Your past is your past and I have no right to pry into it. But it seems you and I are somehow connected.

[One question with one honest answer, she just had to be so specific about it didn't she? There was no point trying to dance around the answer or make a witty joke. A part of him wanted her to know the truth anyway.]

I thought we were going to talk, not fight.

[sitting on a nearby stump. there's another one if he wants to take it.]
You don't see any bows around, do you?
[leans back a bit as she looks upward.]
I come here often to gather my thoughts. You could say it's my own private area that no one else knows about.
[except Raven now. if he didn't get the implications about this, then he really is dumb.]

Heh, why would you share a place like this with an old man like me?
Reply
And since you'll be sharing a secret, I might as well go ahead and share you one of mine. Not that it's much of one.
[looks at him.]
So whenever you're ready, Raven.

Hold on! I didn't say anythin' about sharing secrets with you! No idea what yer talkin' about.
