[... It's honestly a little painful to hear what Luke's saying. Things like that ... are similar to what he said to Estelle.

Dammit. Well, there goes his resolve to take her down, totally out the window. Dammit, Luke ...

... Regardless. Since she used her swords as a shield, Yuri figures both his and Luke's artes did nothing. Dammit. Then that means all of his long-range artes are completely pointless ...

... But he's got no time to grump about that. Once the swords so much as twitch, Yuri immediately raises his own sword in defense. This works about as well as one would expect a normal sized, thinner sword to work against a larger, thicker one -- or in other words, it not only knocks him back, but gets a nice cut in on his other arm.

... That kind of hurts. A lot, actually. But it's still attached and working, so at the moment? Yuri doesn't give a crap.

But regardless of all that, he's already found that both times he's tried charging at her, he's gotten cut up. So this time, he hangs back, hoping things might works in his favor if he tries to get her to come at him instead.]

[... Dammit. Nothing seems to be working.

Luke grits his teeth when he sees the swords block the attack, and he's already putting his guard up by lifting up his own sword and taking a step back. The fact that she used giant swords to protect herself clues him in on the fact that she might use to attack, too.

And he's right, and he braces himself as the swords lash out at them. His is wider, but it's still no match against Noel's. Luke's knocked back too, and he has a cut on both his forearm and his other shoulder, where his own sword was pushed back against him.

It hurts, and now he's bleeding, but he doesn't have the time to focus on that. Instead, he keeps his sword in front of him as he steps back, keeping his distance from both Noel and Yuri, though he's ready to spring just in case, whether to get away or to help protect Yuri.]

[Unfortunately, it's the fact that Yuri is closest and most hostile that Kusanagi decides to put her focus on him for the moment.

She abruptly pushes her hands down, and the swords briefly disappear... only to appear again from under Yuri's form as one large blade. If Yuri's reflexes are good, he might have the chance to get away, but if he's hit? He's going up, and Kusanagi will be jumping after him.]

[Yuri does indeed have some very good reflexes.

Unfortunately, he's got no idea what Mu is capable of, and can only manage to start getting away when he realizes what's about to happen. The blade launches him into the air, not making his legs feel too pleasant as it does so. He can't tell what the exact damage is, but he knows they're still there and no bones were broken, so he's more focused on attempting to right himself in the air to hopefully land safely than anything else. Including what Kusanagi may be up to, as he's figuring she was just trying to get him out of the way to get at Luke, or something along those lines.]

[The moment Kuasna - Noel faces Yuri and slams her hands down, Luke moves, and he's running towards her. Whatever she's doing to Yuri with that move, Luke can't do anything about it until the aftermath. So, all he can do is do something about her while she's lifting her hands from her attack. He has about a second to do this.

And it's probably very, very stupid of him to do.

But as soon as he's within range and took a glance at dat ass, he performs a Swallow Fury - He speeds up so much that he just about disappears and reappears on the other side of her, where he sends a barrage of kicks and slices of his sword. He can only hope that was at least a distraction to keep her attacks away from Yuri.]

[Yes. It is stupid, because it now puts himself in danger. But at least Yuri's safe from whatever Kusanagi had originally planned. Good going, Luke! Now you're the one who's screwed.

At least he gets a hit in. The Murakumo winces, especially when the lacerations are involved, but in the end it's simply a mere annoyance. And with his time to shine over and the realization that he's right next to her sinks in, it's already too late to change things.

Her first instinct is to backhand Luke; her body is riddled with sharp objects, including her arms, so wherever it hits (if it hits) will leave a nasty cut. She's not finished, either. Taking a page from her successor, Kusanagi will then swing four of the blades in Luke's direction by moving her body forward as/if he's dazed by the smack.]

[The good news is, Yuri manages to land properly! ... Even if it was an incredibly painful experience that damn near brought him to his knees. But hey, that's something, right?

... Except it's because Luke ran in and played hero, if the fact that the two are near where he is, rather than farther away, was any hint. Still, whatever the outcome of Kusanagi's backhanding and blade swinging at Luke is, Yuri's going to force himself to deal with the pain running though his arms and legs and is going to try getting a hit in on her.

So, hopefully Kusanagi doesn't mind a Lone Wolf Charge coming her way -- that being what amounts to a bum rush before he slams his hand on the ground, causing a blow of energy in the form of a wolf's head to appear in an attempt to knock her over.]

[Luke knew what he was getting into the moment he ran forward to get her attention away from Yuri. But he was still hoping that he could at least recover enough to dodge or run away from her before she could attack him.

Inevitably, though, that thought was too optimistic. He always has to take a second to recover from his artes, so all he can do is widen his eyes before the slap hits him, and as a result, he feels the blade on her arm cut deep into his jawline and end at the side of his chin. It's a damn good thing he didn't lift his head a little more, otherwise he'd get cut in the neck and possibly die right then and there.

As it stands, Luke can't hold back that cry of pain as he shoots his free hand up to press his palm against it, already feeling blood seep and spill through his fingers. That's about all the coherency he has, though, so he can't move out of the way of her next attack.

Which sends him flying through the air and skidding on his side, a cringe on his face as that causes a slight burn. But that's nothing compared to the four lacerations evenly spaced on his other side - one just below his arm and on his elbow, one on his ribcage, one just above his hip and one on his thigh. At least the arm where she hit him is still accounted for, but it's still left him dazed enough to lie there and just... grit his teeth for a few seconds. It's purely because of adrenaline that it's not enough to make him cry out again, really.]

[Suffice to say, Luke was in big trouble. Kusanagi should have known better than to have ignored him back there. Her eyes narrow as she watches his body skid a few yards away, more than eager to continue the merciless beating when she catches the other male closing in on her. Her azure eyes flicker over to him just as the first strike comes in--it hits, but before Yuri can get the big finish in she uses the same barrier from before to knock him away.

Stay down, Yuri.

Free from any threats, Kusanagi rushes over to the fallen Luke to continue where she left off. Her speed almost seems inhuman as she lifts him up off the ground with one arm, the disembodied swords surrounding the poor guy before striking him up all at once. With Luke now in the air, the Murakumo jumps after him to continue the deadly combo of kicks and slices before finally finishing it off with one stronger slash to knock him back down to the ground.]

[... Right. Barrier. He really should've expected that one. If only he hit her hard enough so she couldn't activate it in time, or just ... something ...

... But that doesn't help him when he's been knocked away and sent rolling along the ground for a several feet. Sorry, Luke, but the blood he's been losing so far from his arms and legs in combination with that hit is making it difficult for him to get back to his feet. He can't really do too much for you right now.

By time he gets back up, all he can do is call out to Luke, if only to make sure he was still alive after everything he's been hit by so far.]

Luke!

[Whatever Luke's condition is, Yuri's going to try -- once again -- charging at Kusanagi, keeping a heavy horizontal swing at the ready for if he should get close enough. He doesn't care if calling out made it obvious that he was probably going to try something. He doesn't care that his legs are practically screaming at him, or that he's got blood dripping all over the place from his arms.

He's not letting someone else die. Least of all in front of him.]

[All Luke could do before he was attacked was look Kusanagi in the eyes, trying to search for any sign of the friend he knew and bonded with.

But, of course, that proves to be a moot point as he's thrown into the air. Luke's never felt so helpless in his life. All he can do at this point is be tossed around like a ragdoll as the blades cut into him, and he can't even tell which way is up or how many wounds he has or if he's going to die or not. Finally, he tries to lift up his sword to try and at least block one strike - and it happens to be that final stronger slash.

It was hard to hear the loud crack his arm made over the sound of swords and air rushing around him, and it's hard for Luke to see how his left forearm is bent at an awkward angle what with him dazed beyond belief. Everything is blurry, everything hurts, and it's an odd state of shock that he's in. He can't even answer Yuri - He just stares up at the sky with wide eyes as if he's not really seeing what's in front of him.

At least his chest heaves with heavy breathing. But he's definitely not getting up to fight again.]

[Luke can search for as long as he wants through those soulless azure eyes. He can plead and beg for his friend to return, to wake up and finally end this nightmare, but in the end he's only grasping for false hope. There is no Noel Vermillion. That name... that person... neither were never supposed to exist.

Consequently, the same goes for their supposed friendship.

What he sees is what he gets--an emotionless, angry doll hellbent on killing every last person on this sorry excuse for a planet.]

Target's threat level reduced to... E.

[...she doesn't even know you. And she would finish Luke off, too, if it weren't for Yuri's approach distracting her yet again.

Well.

It's not like the redhead will be going anywhere soon.

Rather than barrier again (and effectively troll yuri), one of the swords will clash against Yuri's in response. Just as before, Kusanagi's gaze is as empty as ever.]

[Whatever that "threat level" crap was supposed to mean, Yuri didn't like it. Not to mention it wasn't exactly giving him a good feeling about Luke's current condition.

A quick glance at Luke was enough to make that feeling concrete.

After their swords clash, Yuri decides there's no point in trying to fling artes around or get fancy about trying to stop her -- so, he decides to simply swing at her continually.]

Is this really what you want? [swing] To hurt and kill everyone who cares about you?! [swing] Flynn, Luke ... Who else are you going to add to that list, Noel?!

[swing]

[you if you don't stop staring at dat ass The Murakumo simply stands there as Yuri continues to swing over and over again, allowing the blades to catch every single hit as she just stares at the man.

She can't hear it.

Or... maybe it's just that she won't hear it.]

... [No words.]

[Nothing to say to that, Kusanagi? Yuri didn't expect an answer, but--]

Say something, dammit!

[He doesn't have much strength left, but at that, he does make a much heavier swing at her with his blade.]

oneofsaya June 20 2011, 05:13:39 UTC
[It's after that last swing that Kusanagi decides it's time to act again. She doesn't want to hear it anymore. Why should it matter? She doesn't know any of you! And even if she did... even if she did, they wouldn't matter to her even then! Who do you think you are to say that!? You... you're...!

Fine, then. She'll say something to you, Yuri.]

...disappear. [She pulls all eight blades back, letting them merge into one before swinging it downward.]
