He's amazed by all the greenery and life in this place, but he doesn't let it get the best of him. He stays sharp and focused, looking for any signs of traps and disarming them. Moving as quietly as he can through the trees. Any third party member he comes across he deals with swiftly. Aiming for the wings and non-lethal points with his hand gun. Then leaving them tied to the trees when he's finished.
So far he's been lucky and hasn't faced more than three at a time, but that could always change. He knows that too well.
Sometime during the second or third night as Vash is once again searching through the forest he comes across something he hasn't seen yet. He stills with the feeling of being watched. Then after a few moments something big and black goes leaping towards him.]
AHHHHHHHHH! NICE KITTY! BIG KITTY! GOOD KITTY!
[And so much for stealth and quiet. Vash goes blazing through the trees with a jaguar in hot pursuit. No, he is not happy when he figures out that big cats can climb trees just as well as small ones. If you try to harm the kitty to save Vash you may find the person you were trying to save attempting to stop you. Either way, he'll just keep running until the big cat gives up and he can flop over and lay panting on the forest floor for a minute or two.]

It also helps that the Jaguar comes to a sudden stop at the strange and ear shattering noise. Deciding this pray may not be worth the effort as it quickly changes course to duck back into the under bush and away from the strange and frightful sound.
Vash himself keeps running a moment or two longer before finally slowing, bending over with his hands on his knees, gasping for breath.] I... should... have... tired... that... sooner...

Fool! [What the hell are you playing at.] Do you really have time to toy with the wildlife in this place?

[Never telling you about her plans to slaughter five villagers then B| But now isn't the time for grand moral debates, so she'll turn her back with a look of disgust and vanish back into the trees.]

What is it with you and hostile wildlife, Vash?!
Well, if you should happen to lead said jaguar a little nearer to camp, Giles will be able to see the blurred shape of something very big chasing what must be the fleeing Vash through the underbrush.
Giles pulls the spellbook out of his pocket and, without opening it, yells out the spell he selected the book for in the first place.
The jaguar makes a leap for Vash, and collides with a mystical barrier.]

Huh?
[It takes him only a half a second to put two and two together that the shout he heard was probably connected to this. So he turns with a shy grin towards where the voice had come from as he quickly backs away from the Jaguar in case the barrier suddenly vanishes.]
Ha! Thanks friend! I was getting kinda tired!

Yes, I would think so.
I suppose it's not much of a comfort that the soldiers seem to be slower than the wildlife, by and large.

We'll have a head start.
But, yes. Probably advisable.
