Given houw utterly fantastic this day has turned out to be, it's little surprise that Amelia turns in early. Not that she'll be able to sleep; honestly, she doubts anyone will, between Wolfwood being kidnapped and Legato showing up for the first time since the experiment. But Amelia is determined to try. If nothing else, maybe keeping her eyes shut and her journal closed will make the time go by quicker.

But that apprently isn't to be, as a loud crash resounds from the living room just as Amelia begins to doze. She shoots up in bed, grabbing for the gun just beside the nightstand. Her first fear is that Legato's found them, found her--and the quiet that follows doesn't exactly ease her mind. But even sick, Vash should be able to get off a few shots, shouldn't he?

No, no chances. Amelia moves to the door, rifle in hand, and peeks into the adjoining room. No blue hair in sight, thank goodness. Instead, Amelia sees a stranger wearing the typical New Feather attire. Great.

"Vash, what are you doing?" Amelia comes out of the room, gun still at her hip just in case. Loud sounds of destruction and chaos are usually his fault, so it's probably a stray assumption that the crash and the presence of this person follow that pattern. "You're not bringing back lost people like they're strays now."

Vash stops his page turning to peer back at Amelia. "Aw, Amelia-chan! I'm just helping this new feather who just showed up! Uh..."

He grins sheepishly again back to Livio. "I'm sorry, I should have asked for you name by now. I'm Vash."

Seconds later, the peace is once again shattered by Milly bursting from Wolfwood's room, brandishing her stun gun and sporting an uncharacteristically furious expression.

"They're not going to take anyone else!"

Of course, his attention was immediately turned towards Amelia; a woman who seemed to be friends with Vash and that he had never seen or heard of. Not that he exactly had time to meet all of his friends. Or maybe she was his girlfriend, considering the "-chan" part.

If they really took people from different times then this is before they met at any rate, even if he is still trying to grasp how that is even possible. Not to mention that it still really hurt that one of his only friend's has no idea who he is.

He was just about to say something then that... blond woman with Vash who's name he never caught burst into the room like they were under attack. With a giant gun. It would be a lie to say that he didn't jump a little at that.

Over all, this definitely ranked up there on both "the most awkward time he's ever had in his entire life" and "situations you would never expect to find yourself in" scale.

I hate it when they do that. goldenglasses May 21 2011, 00:36:35 UTC
Vash is up in a flash, putting himself between Livio and Milly, you never know when something might accidentally be triggered when someone is under stressed after all.

"No, it's alright, Milly. It's a new feather. Not a droid. No one is being taken."

"Don't call me that." Amelia is quick to correct Vash, since -chan is in no way, shape, or form actually part of her name. And if he actually manages to get strangers calling her that, there will be no end to the amount of payback she'll get.

She barely has a chance to get that out, however, before Milly comes bursting into the room as well. Given the other woman's warning, it's clear where her heart is. Amelia feels a pang of sympathy, but she's moving too--not as fast as Vash, of course. Who honestly could match that speed?

"We're all here." She's not typically one to offer comfort or anything like that, but Amelia knows that they'll have to divide their attention, at least until Milly calms down. She reaches out to put a hand on Milly's gun, hoping to prompt the other woman to lower it. "Come on. You're going to scare the new guy coming out like that."

Milly blinks for a moment, looking between Vash, Amelia, the mayhem in the living room and finally the rather dishevelled and finally the dusty looking newcomer in the middle of all the debris covered in bits of plaster and debris.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just a little bit frazzled. It's been a very bad day. Are you alright?" She puts her gun aside, satisfied that it's not a droid about to kidnap anyone else. "You poor thing, it must be awful to fall down through a ceiling like that. Did you hurt yourself?"

Meryl really never does know what she can expect at home, coming back from work, especially not on a day like this... but the chaotic noises she's blasted with were not within expectation.

With some hustle in her step, she makes her debut on the scene, poking her head in the doorway. Her processing of the scene spills out from her mouth in order. "What happened?! W-- the ceiling! Did Luffy start-- who is that?"

"I- I'm fine." He managed to blurt out.

Really, it wasn't that far from the truth: Livio is a sturdy guy. At this point the only thing physically bothering him are the wings, which are still sore from being jostled like that. If nothing else, he felt guilty for making Milly worry over him.

Oh, and that must have been the other girl who was with Vash that time. Who's name he never got to catch either.

"I'm Livio."

He might as well introduce himself now, since that's what everybody has been asking in rapid succession. Though, he should probably save the part where he's their friend in the future for when they aren't in the middle of (understandably) freaking out.

For someone who had a man crash through his ceiling and on top of him, Vash is pretty calm really. At least now that Milly isn't about to shoot anyone. With a sigh he plops back onto the sofa and resumes flipping through the journal for the guide.

"No, Luffy wasn't here." Vash makes a motion towards Livio. "He kinda just crashed through our roof." As he finally locates the guide Vash hands the book back over to Livio.

"Well, I suppose I can't really say it's nice to meet you here Livio, but this place isn't all bad. This is a guide that covers a lot about this place, but the short story is we've all been brought here to Luceti by scientists. Some claim that they're trying to send us home, others... others don't seem as friendly." He'll let that sink in and anyone else add something to that for a moment.

At least Milly doesn't take much convincing. It probably helps that Meryl comes out right after too, although Amelia is already dreading the morning to come. Vash may be calm now, but none of them is likely to be cheerful without any sleep.

Amelia is good with listening for the most part--apparently someone named Luffy makes a habit of wrecking the ceiling, and this guy is Livio. But when Vash tries to describe Luceti from the glass half full perspective, she lets out a sigh.

"Not as friendly? They do unimaginable things to us for experiments, and that's 'not as friendly'?" Amelia shakes her head. "Stop trying to sugarcoat it."

While you two argue over semantics, Livio was a bit more concerned with the more practical issue of returning home. The way everything was set up it certainly seemed like they were preparing any new arrivals for just accepting their fate like there was no chance of resistance.

Even with the guide there, it was an awful lot of information to try and digest at once, so after a brief moment Livio looked towards Vash with a quietly serious expression.

"... and there's nothing we can do?"

Because if anyone can some up with a plan to save the day, it's Vash.

Milly felt her heart drop into her stomach like a lead filled balloon at Mr. Vash's words, and then Amelia's, and forced herself not to burst into tears. She couldn't bear the thought of some nameless, faceless stranger scientist doing unimaginable things to Mr. Priest.

"They're horrible people, Mr. Vash," she said in a small voice. "I'm sorry Mr. Livio, but that's the truth. You have to be very careful or you'll be-"

She stopped to swallow.

"You might get carried away one day."

One of the reasons Vash had attempted to sugar coat the truth was for Milly. The other being he knows Luceti is a lot to take in for someone who just arrived, but now that the not so pleasant truth was out Vash just rubs the back of his neck with a sigh.

"I'm afraid not. There's a barrier around this town that keeps people from getting out or into the village. As for the scientists every so often they'll perform a village wide experiment where they'll change something. Maybe how we all look, act, or see something. Those may last a week or two then everything will go back to normal."

He gives Milly a soft, sympathetic look before he continues. He misses him too. "Other times they send an army of droid after a certain individual. I'm not sure what they're made of, but they're nearly indestructible. It takes a lot of work and effort to damage even one and they're usually sent in a group. Not only that, they try to outnumber people when they're alone or with only a couple people. The droids move fast so it's nearly impossible to get a group together to try to fight them off.

When someone is taken, it's to a location outside of the barrier. Where we can't reach them. They'll be sent back eventually, but each time varies." He could go on. Mention how they're taken to be experimented on and usually come back changed in some way for a little while, but he's hoping he won't need to say that out loud.

Wrong answer, Vash.

He's still trying to take all of this in. It really shouldn't be surprising that those capable of taking people from other times and worlds would be capable of such a barrier, but still the fact that this sort of power even exists in the universe to begin with is unsettling. Far more so since everyone trapped here is helpless against it.

And no, he really doesn't need to say that out loud. He's had his fair share of being a human guinea pig, the difference being that his modifications were consensual.

While he stays quiet for a moment, he's now visibly frustrated both at his own weakness and the fact that innocent people like those girls are also being dragged here. Livio isn't stupid, he knows what they are capable of, and it's because of this that he's not going to push Vash to try and fix everything with him. If they really were capable of that sort of power then they were truly outmatched.

Right, Milly. When she speaks, Amelia sadly--and maybe a little guiltily--looks toward the other woman. They all missed Wolfwood, but Milly is taking it especially hard. But she doesn't cry when she talks about it this time, and Amelia respects her for that. Vash finally delves into the truth, and Amelia's listening just as closely as the stranger for a moment. Even hearing it repeated, it's still hard for her to believe that someone like Vash just can't figure out a way to fix it all.

Livio's gone quiet too, and Amelia doesn't have to imagine why. She's worn the same look he has, even recently. So despite what Amelia said herself not even a few minutes ago, she tries to add her own good note. "For what it's worth, the people here actually are friendly." With notable exceptions, but Livio doesn't need to hear any of her problems. "Most everyone is willing to help out someone, even if they're a stranger. But there might be people you already know here too. You can use the journal to check."
