When Mithos finally decides that his mother will be okay without him hovering by her side (for the moment, at least), he sets out to wander among the party guests.

He still feels that this is too sudden. Of course he's happy for his sister, and he trusts Jack to take proper care of her (and their two sons as well), but...he's never been particularly good at letting go of anything. Especially not when it comes to his precious family. He just wishes he had more time to adjust to the idea, let it sink in. There probably isn't enough time in the world to accommodate how long it would take him to be entirely okay with the idea of his sister leaving, though.

"Mithos, lad. So glad you could make it." Jack approached his new brother-in-law with a courteous smile. "Perfect day, perfect bride, and a man who's perfectly capable of caring for her for richer or poorer, in sickness or health or certain doom. Lovely, isn't it."

"Of course I made it. I wouldn't miss my only sister's wedding, you know."
Especially because he thought of today as a last day of sorts to truly be with said sister, before she became a part of another family too. Maybe he was being a little over-dramatic.

Mithos returned his own smile, appreciative of the stream of reassurances Jack offered. He was okay with this, really, he just needed to keep convincing himself to stop worrying so much. "I would hope that you could ensure 'certain doom' doesn't even become an issue," he quipped lightly.

"No one can ensure against certain doom, lad. That's why it's certain, and not 'possible doom' or '43% chance of doom' or 'maybe we'll have a bit of doom later.' But I can bear through it with her---together."

“Okay, okay, you pass. I trust you not to jump ship on her when she needs you the most.”

Jump ship...it was an interesting choice of words, considering the dreams Jack had been having recently. He forced a half-smile onto his face. "I won't abandon her, if that's your worry."

He could understand why it was.

It was good that he understood that much. He had the perfect non-example to learn from: what not to put Raine through. "I know you care about her a lot. You wouldn't have changed if you didn't."

Although, even Mithos was unclear on a lot of the specifics. He had been too young, or not born at all, back when Jack was...not at his best. By the time he had been old enough to understand how unorthodox his sister's and Jack's relationship was (with kids, but unmarried and not quite together all the time aside?), the man had already begun to turn around.
