The "THUMP" on his bedroom door is enough to jar Edward from his rest and get him on his feet, one hand grasping for his sword as he heads out to deal with the intruder. Or kick Katie (...or Capell?) back to bed for waking him up so late, depending.

He'd expected a problem he could deal with, angrily or violently. What he does find - something he announces rather loudly, in fact - is...

"... Lord Sigmund!!"

Sigmund stares at him from his undignified sit-sprawl across the couch, bleary eyed and almost as though he were expecting someone else, but after a moment something clicks in recognition. He rearranges himself into a slightly more dignified position - a bit more sit and a bit less sprawl - and busies himself with trying to toe off his other shoe.

"Something to drink, Edward."

Edward almost rushes over at once, but the order halts him, and he nods, shifting direction to head for the kitchen instead. He feels like he's in a state of half-panic; after this long (and the sort of luck he's had) he'd almost expected Sigmund to not be returned at all. It's what happened last time, after all. Yet now he's back again, and... is he hurt? Or just tired? Do they need a healer or a doctor? All his old worries are replaced with new ones.

It only takes a minute to get the water, though, so not long after he's right back at Sigmund's side, offering up a glass and crouching beside the couch. "My lord, are you well? Is there anything else you need?"

Sigmund makes an agreeable sort of noise, more interested in downing the whole glass of water than anything else. He looks like he's lost a bit of weight, not that this is as disastrous for Sigmund as it would be for say, Capell. That's to be expected, though. The kind of people that do inhuman experiments on prisoners don't often feed them well.

To complement Ed's half-panic, he seems to be in a state of serene, unruffled calm. When half the water is gone, he offers the glass back to Edward. "Have you ever woken up, unsure if you were truly awake?"
