Summary: First Susumu, now Hijikata. Ayumu is upset and worried that someone else is going to vanish next.

[Again. It happened again.
It was only a week since Susumu's disappearance and once more Ayumu had gone about her daily chores to find another room echoingly empty, devoid of what few personal belongings had been there. The only sign Hijikata had been there at all was the faint lingering trace of smoke in the air, and even that, she knew, would fade quickly.
For a moment she can only study the room, searching for some sign that she was wrong, but then a sudden cold fear breaks through her usual enforced calm and clenches within her chest, and she turns away to the other rooms. Okita's is... as it was, and he'd been at breakfast that morning. She hesitates for a moment at the door to Shinpachi's room, then realizes she's being utterly ridiculous and pushes it open.
Empty. But not empty as those other rooms had been, she realizes -- simply unoccupied at the moment. Ayumu breathes out (not a sigh; that would be too much open loss of control and she can't allow that, just a breath) and takes a few steps farther into the room, taking in the sight of it as she had the emptiness of Hijikata's room a few moments before. Shinpachi is still here and she cannot help but feel grateful she hasn't lost him as well.]
