HELLO PEOPLE OF LUCETI. I bring to you a meme of sorts. ... Well, more like an info survey of sorts but-- anyway.

Some of you may remember this from the last time I did it. Welp, guess what? I've updated it once more, and am bringing it back for everyone to enjoy and fill out and all that stuff. To those who've done this before, I added five more ( Read more... )

Katara markofthebrave January 31 2011, 07:20:58 UTC
1) Height: Between 5'4 and 5'5 (not canon)

2) Weight: She's very slim but also has quite a bit of muscle, so my best guess is around 120-130.

3) Eye color/Hair Color: Her hair is a very dark brown, almost black, and her eyes are vivid blue.

4) Age: Katara is 15, nearing 16

5) Voice: That girl talking right there in the beginning.

6) Who does the housework in their house/apartment?: She does. But she also enforces chores. Chores being: Put back what you take out. Put your used dishes in the dish washer. Don't leave things on the floor for Toph to trip over. Take out the garbage. ...a lot of the time it's just easier to do things herself, though. Saturday is 'cleaning day' and she'll spend a good part of it dusting, sweeping, and doing laundry.

7) Their favorite (and least favorite, if you want) foods and who does the cooking in their house/apartment?: Katara does the cooking, but Sokka does a lot of the grocery shopping too... even if he brings home ingredients that she doesn't need to cook. So she stocks the house with essentials for breakfast and lunch, but people are pretty much on their own for them. Dinner, though, she makes every night. And she expects everyone to be there and have it together, unless they have a really good reason. And they'd better have told her before-hand. It's family togetherness time!

And... she doesn't really have a favorite food, though she's most accustomed to sea food, and prefers tangy things to sweet. Also - cream soda and root beer are her secret addictions.

8) What they do during an average day in Luceti: A day in the life goes something like:

-Wake up just in time to go to school
-Errands/wandering around/homework
-Meet up with Nami on various days to learn how to fight with the bo
-On an alternate day, meet with Brook for lessons
-Make dinner
-Practice bending for an hour-two hours after dinner. (This is as much discipline as it is necessary unwinding. And the simple fact is: she just loves it. She very rarely misses this time.)
-Long. Hot. Shower. (Lasting no less than a half hour and frequently up to an hour. If you want to use the bathroom in the Avatar house during this time, you are straight out of luck. Seriously: Do Not Disturb.)
-Sleep

She hates waking up in the mornings and loves staying up late.

9) Their general sense of fashion: Katara is most comfortable in her season three watertribe get-up, of which it is almost impossible to find a good full frontal screenshot. She wears her hair down and with hair loopies - and will occasionally put it in a low loose ponytail for serious work. She really doesn't think about what she looks like or what she wears... hardly at all. 'Presentable' is pretty much her only qualification. Although after almost a year in Luceti she is becoming a bit more appearance conscious.

10) Do they have any hobbies? Did they come up with these hobbies in Luceti, or was it something they always did?: Actually, she's starting to take up gardening (with Ginko, learning all the medical properties of the plants - botany, yay) and Brook is going to start giving her lessons in how to play the koto. She'd talked about learning regular medicine with Chopper as well, but nothing was finalized. Although she still wants to get to go and work in the clinic and learn... she for some reason she just doesn't seem to have the time.

11) Has the situation in Luceti changed their view on certain topics/the way they react to different things?: Most tellingly, in Luceti Katara is being forcibly introduced to the concept of 'gray.' She is adapting to it, slowly and painfully as she is someone of extremes and passions, and she is protesting the death of her idealism all the way as the horror stories of a dozen worlds keep clashing with her view of The Way Things Should Be.

Also, she's buddies with Zuko now.

12) Do they have a weapon? If so, do they carry it at all times or just under certain circumstances?: Due to Luceti's fickle nature when it comes to powers, it wasn't long before a situation came up where Katara had to go into the tunnels. This prompted her decision to learn how to fight with another style other than bending. So, she has:

-A bo, which she pretty much leaves at home unless she's working with it.
-A knife, which she carries with her at all times, pretty much just
because it was made by Sokka for her and is therefore precious.
-Her waterskin. This... goes with her everywhere. She doesn't even
think about it anymore.
-Allen Walker made her a glass bracelet filled with water which she's
had Sokka adjust into an armband. She wears it everywhere.

13) Who are their neighbors?: Katara... actually doesn't know.
This should be remedied.

14) How long have they been in Luceti? Has that length of time impacted them in any way?: She's been in Luceti almost a year. While she loves most of the people she's met here (truly loves), this place has dealt her spirit some crushing blows. She really, really, really wants to go home.

15) Their favorite areas/stores/hang-out locations?: The bridge by her house and a certain spot along the riverbank.

16) Wing color and how do they deal with their wings?: Katara's wings are bluish-grey at the base that go through the color spectrum until they reach the vivid blue of her eyes at the tips. She's cut holes in her clothes and sown them up so that her wings are out most of the time... but her clothes are usually loose enough that if she feels like she's in danger she can tuck them inside.

17) Did they change or grow in any way physically since coming to
Luceti?: A steady, healthy diet and a more sedentary lifestyle than the kind Katara is used to has led to her beginning to develop in the womanly way (and no her icons do not reflect this) - she's had to do some discrete mending on her clothes to keep them as loose as she prefers. Also, she's topped out her height now - at just a bit taller than 5'5.

18) What do they miss the most from home?: She misses being in a world where things matter. Luceti seems to be one endless cycle of pointlessness and loss and it's getting to her.

And she misses her village, and her dad, and Gran Gran, and Toph, and Aang - although due to his numerous appearances and disappearances and then finding out that an alternate of herself marries the guy, that particular 'I miss you' has been buried until she can sort things out. Which... without Aang will probably be sometime after never.

19) What does their handwriting look like? Do they write the way
they talk, or is there a clear difference between the two?: Katara's handwriting has actually improved since she's been in Luceti, since she's never had much of a chance to practice it before. It's flowy and neat, with occasionally getting bigger when she becomes emotional about something. While writing, she has a chance to think a bit more before she speaks, but really there's not too much difference between writing and speaking.

20) Is the way they act in person different from the way they act
over the journal system?: Not really different at all, no, although sometimes she'll be more cautious about what information she gives out on the journals.

21) Did they gain/lose any personal goals during their stay in
Luceti?: She was taken from before her canon's end - even before The Invasion. She knows she's got a lot to do when she gets back home and is motivated to do it. But, she also knows that she does do it, that everything works out all right... so she's not worried about that as much as now she really wants to start working on building her world's happy-as-we-can-be ever after.

22) Is Luceti a technological upgrade, or downgrade for them? Have
they adapted to these changes well?: It was a huge upgrade, and when they got electricity Katara freaked. Lightning? In HER house? No thank you. ...but now she's used to it. And possibly in love with her dishwasher.

23) FOR STUDENTS: What is their favorite class? What is their least
favorite class? What about their general behavior in school?: Her favorite subject is the World Sharing class, and for the most part Katara is attentive, curious, polite, and diligent... just don't get her started on a class debate. >>

24) Do they have any special talents? If so, what are they?: Waterbending, ridiculous adaptability, she is a fast learner and she works hard which... while not talents, explain why she can take to a lot of things like a turtleduck to water. She's got a basic set of 'survival skills' that come from living in the arctic, and actually has some latent musical talent.

25) Anything else you want to note?:
-Her sixteenth birthday is going to be a huge deal for her - marrying age, officially an adult now in all ways.
-...her schedule causes me to despair. Someone take her to the rec center and teach her how to play fuseball or something.
