Though, this is in no doubt surprising when Featherine has the power to change worlds and what happens within them to her liking with just a mere change of how the world is written. Although she will go by the laws of what gameboard she is in (which is still both her and Tohya’s writing, mind you). It only took a second to completely kill and render a powerful witch--Lambdadelta--as useless and suddenly dead. Although cruel, her motivations for her actions come from wish to relieve herself of a common illness among witches. And that is boredom. It is boredom that is what drives her to take an interest in Beato’s game during Episode 6, 7, and 8--wanting to know the truth, and her motivation to want to know what happens during Battler’s game.

Although it is not said outright in the sound novel; the metaworld in Umineko does directly connect to the real world. Ange remembering everything that happened in metaworld in the real world is proof of that. Therefore, when speaking about Ikuko, it is important to considering Featherine as being a part of her.

Another important relationship Ikuko has is with Bernkastel.. Although it is slightly mysterious, it is said that Bern was a miko (reader of stories) for Featherine for a long, long time. Although their relationship seems to be friendly enough for them to get along enough to discuss business and for them to work together (with strict terms) Bern shows an antagonistic side to Featherine. Though, in Episode 8, they did get along--Featherine more or less protected Bern thanks to the ‘rules’ that she shared with her Mikos.

However, for Ikuko, Bern is shown to be nothing more than a cat in the real world.

Ange Ushiromiya is someone else who turns out to be a miko for Featherine. Ange had read Battler’s game to Featherine, and the witch had promised Ange a miracle in return. Later on in Episode 8, Ikuko and Tohya both meet with Ange. Through Ange, it does show that Ikuko can be someone who will not hesitate to say crude things to, or tease her to a small extent. Other then that, the two seem to share a strange, but somewhat friendly relationship with one another. Ikuko did promise to show Ange a miracle after she had finished reading Episode 6 with the Ushiromiya. That in itself is implied to be an incredibly rare gift from Feathine. Of course, in Episode 8, reuniting Ange with her brother (Tohya, who was once Battler) may be that miracle that was promised.

Strengths: Ikuko is clever. Of course, this is commonly known trait among ‘witches’ or those who speak of themselves as ‘witches’ in Umineko. Though, it’s shown clearly through her manner of speaking that she is clever, and does show a great amount of intelligence when Ange first meets her in Dawn of the Golden Witch. With that said, it’s not beyond Ikuko to easily trick others when she feels it is needed. After all, she did keep up the mask of being Tohya Hachijo for years, and years.

With that said, Ikuko is perhaps used to being isolated from others. This may or may not be because she merely prefers to be alone. She did live alone in a home far from others until she found Tohya. She is by no means weak--after all, she did not give up in writing when others rejected her writing.

Although seemingly cold, it isn’t beyond Ikuko to stand up for those she cares about. Once again, Tohya is an example of this. When Ange had scolded Tohya for hiding the truth from her, Ikuko quickly stood up for him (though giving him enough time to perhaps do it himself). But, she does also take cares of cats (who appear to be part of her small amount of friends).

As said, she is intelligent, and does realize how cold and cruel the world can be, and how ugly men are. As the one who helped to write the series of stories for Rokkenjima, and deals with those who seek the truth constantly, she may have merely began to know from seeing how others could react upon thinking that they knew the “truth”, and how others reacted to Eva Ushiromiya being what others believed was the only survivor of the murders.
