Strengths: Spike is a vampire and has all the abilities that come standard with the Joss Whedon brand of vampire, such as: heightened senses (smell, hearing, taste, being able to see in the dark), strength that's stronger than that of a Human, and the ability to change his visage to be either that of the demon or that of the Human body the demon is occupying (frequently called "vamping out" or going into "game face"). Vampires also don't breathe and are able to thus move more freely in conditions, such as underwater, where there is a considerable lack of oxygen or air in general that Humans and other creatures cannot survive within. In addition to that, Spike also possesses a high tolerance for alcohol (due to his vampirism) and a vast amount of knowledge in observational tactics, methods of torture (he earned the named Spike from his habit of torturing people with railroad spikes, after all), and various forms of martial arts. Note: Spike's soul, unlike Angel's, is permanent and he is in no way in danger of losing it.
Weaknesses: Like all vampires, he is vulnerable to all your common means of killing, aside from being susceptible to being injured by physical blows or by weapons ranging from swords to even guns. Bullets don't kill vampires, but they sure as hell have the ability to hurt them. He can be killed by sunlight, beheading, fire, or your standard and ever-popular stake to the heart. When killed, there is no body left behind, merely a burst of dust where a vampire once was. His greatest weakness, however, is his emotional attachments and loyalties. He can be manipulated by using this as leverage, if one plays their cards right. Despite his selfish tendencies, he has no problem putting himself in harm's way in order to protect the lives of those he loves and is loyal to. And, in the past, his selfishness could be used against him by playing off his desire of self-benefit, but thanks to his soul and the truer sense of good nature that has been instilled in him because of it, such may prove to be a bit more difficult.
