Question regarding the type of characters that can be applied for:

Can characters from mmorpgs be fine to app for? I don't mean character players but NPCs, there are some mmorpgs like Mabinogi in which a certain element of classic rpg videogame is added to the game. Many NPCs aren't just characters that are there to buy things from or take quests from, but have stories and specific personalities that even develop as the game receives updates. So would this kind of characters be possible to be apped if we can provide enough proofs that they have indeed a canon to be apped from?

Here are some examples of NPCs from the Mabinogi game I mentioned, which honestly is the only game I know in which NPCs actually show individual personalities and stories: Nao, Morrighan, Ruairi, Tarlach, Morgant and many others though those are among the NPCs who appear more prominently in the game's story and thus show more development, personality and background story.

That's fine. So long as there's sufficient canon to prove the character can stand on his or her own! If you're unsure if a particular character would meet our standards, feel free to ask us here or shoot us an email, whichever you prefer.

Awesome, it's just a thought for now but I was considering any of those three characters from Mabinogi: Nao, Morrighan or Morgant. I already provided links to the pages with their canon background, though let me tell you that those are pretty... Simply writing, if I apped them I would probably write the story section myself because I feel the pages leave some things aside (which is understandable as they don't want to reveal too much of the story so people still enjoy it).

Oh, I'm aware that Nao's page is probably the one with less canon background but take into account that her story ties in with this character's (Mari) story, as Mari was Nao's previous life and Nao possesses all the memories and such that Mari had. Are any of those three possible to app then?

Yes, provided you did write histories for them, as the articles are a little lacking.

I was wondering about the possibility of apping PGSM version Princess Mars. I'm asking mostly because it may run up against rule 7, as the past life is only shown in flashbacks and discussed a few times, or has the story told in brief narratives ( ... )

From what you've provided, this doesn't sound like a substantial enough time period, given how much has to be derived from the manga and vague hints. She should be taken from the show's actual timeline.

Okay, just thought I'd ask. Thank you!

For characters with multiple personalities - each of which act as a character all of their own and are treated as such in canon - would you like samples for each, or just a sample from the POV of which personality would be in control upon arrival..?

For the third person I can easily integrate them interacting with each other, etc., since they do all the time, but for the first person I'm not sure how it would work for them.

Sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you in advance!

Sorry for the late response.

That's a little difficult, honestly. I'd like to know a little more about the canon itself before giving a solid answer. Is this a scenario where technically, another player could reasonably want to app a different one of those personalities?

....If they wanted to, sure..? But it would make them pretty much unplayable since they're so heavily reliant on each other, especially considering splitting them up would be ripping apart their soul. Add in that Luceti would be taking away their most precious possession as well, putting them back in a position where one of their worse fears is commonplace, and ... lol.

It's not like Yami and Yuugi from Yugioh, where Yami - a totally separate being - gets dumped into Yuugi's body or w/e, or like Dark and Daisuke in DNAngel. It's hey, my soul/mind fractured for x reason and the pieces became new personalities.

I just want to know if you'd want the sample from the pov of whoever would be in control of the body at the time, or one for each Akito and Agito. The third personality isn't an issue since it's mostly dormant.

Really detailed info on it all can be found in the second or third post in this journal, if you want it.

In the canon, My character gets turned into a vampire, but he keeps exactly the same history and personality as it the result of being turned for a mission.

Would I be able to take him from halfway through that episode to keep him as the vamp, or would I have to bring him in human as he gets changed back?

Dean Winchester? Hm. I guess I'd want to ask why precisely you want to keep him a vampire.

Because it's an interesting canon-point that I don't think i've seen anyone else play, and I think there's a lot of chance for interesting character development there that would be unobtainable if I was to keep him human. Such as his struggle to keep his thirst under control (he'd only drink from animals - he's had it proven to him that vamps can live like this by a small group of vamps back in season 2) - when he eventually ate.

I am happy to play him human if you would prefer (it's how I play him in the city_of_cydonia), it's that I have been looking to play him from this canon-point to get a chance to tackle this character development. I think that the dynamic way he could be played would be interesting, but I would still keep him IC :3 no AU here, thanks

I have a question pertaining to robotic/android characters with a limited power source!

In my character's canon, his battery runs out and thus, he 'dies'. Shuts down, rather.

Would it be possible for him to find battery replacements in the shops of the village when he's running low, or could the magic of Luceti simply keep him powered up without any hassle?

On the subject, I'm hoping to app him post-'death', so he'd be surprised to find himself functioning again. Would his battery have been magically replaced/recharged?

If his battery can't simply be recharged by a power outlet, the simplest solution would be to just have his battery not ever run down. Past characters have had 'Shifts' applied to keep their energy reserves in a constant state of being reset to full.
