So.... me & Noah are getting married! <3
He proposed on my birthday. (This past Sunday.)
It was sort of sad because we had plans to go to Dallas and go to the aquarium and stuff that day, but then I got cramps and just sat around feeling sick most of the day. We ended up driving the 45 minutes to Denton (I slept on the way, haha) to go to 5pm mass at this church that my school has a teacher's retreat at, Immaculate Conception. It's a really pretty cute and the way they had their 5pm mass was nice. The opening song was this really cute song that was sang at Sacred Heart when the women came back from the ACTS retreat (maybe it was called "Come Now Is the Time to Worship"? Or something?) and I was glad they did that song because it had such a cute melody the first time I heard it.
After that, we went out to dinner at this pan-Asian place on Avenue C called Mr. Chopsticks. Avenue C is also the same place as Siam House, which we've gone to twice.. but it's worth the 45 minute drive! Anyway, at Mr. Chopsticks, I got some good curry and we discovered that they had amazing hot and sour soup.
Then I slept on the way back.. sue me, I was feeling sick!
Then we went over his parents house to say hi but they weren't even home and I was just feeling sick and tired and just wanted to go home but then eventually they got home. So we stayed and talked for a while, but I was feeling really crummy and so we went home soon after.
So I was at home and just feeling junky and just wanted to change out of my teacher-y clothes into pajamas so I was going into my room to get some and Noah kept calling to me and I was like "I'm getting clothes!" and he was like "Wait, wait" and was in the doorway to my room so I walked into my closet because I JUST WANTED TO CHANGE, haha. So he followed me in there and cornered me and was like "Wait!" So then I stopped whining... and he said "You know how the other day I asked you if you still want to stick around forever?" And I was like "..Yeah..." and then he said "Well, I was asking because I want to know if you really do.." and then he pulled out the ring in the open box and I just started laughing (?) and gave him a big hug and then he's like "Look at it, look at it!" and I said "Well aren't you going to ask me a question?" and then he said "...Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me?" and I was "Yeah, of course!" and then that was that. I just kind of kept laughing afterward for a long time.
Later on the couch he was like "Doesn't it feel really different?" and I was like "No not really..." and he's like "Well, it's like we sealed the deal" and I said "Well, in my mind, we sealed the deal once I moved here and we combined our video game collection because I knew what a huge deal it was for you to have someone else be holding onto all your games." ..Apparently the next morning Noah told his mom that I said that and she laughed at us.
The next day in school, Noah's littlest sister (she's a junior) came by to say Happy Birthday and she was like "Oh, what did Noah get you?" and I showed her the ring and she like "AH REALLY?!" and then she went and told a bunch of my students... so when I got to 6th period, we were supposed to have a quiz but I wanted to give them another day to study so I wrote on the board in Spanish "We're taking the quiz tomorrow because I want you all to study" and when I was trying to get them to translate it back to me, one of my kids yells "We're taking the quiz tomorrow because you're engaged!" and I was like "NO, ESTUDIEN DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ENGAGED." :P I guess you had to be there but it was funny..
Outside of news about me and Noah, life is pretty good. For this quarter, I don't teach 8th period and even just having one less class and one more planning has made my life infinitely more manageable. I really like Sacred Heart. It's a cute school and it's got really great kids even if some of them like to talk a lot!
