"Maybe I should leave you two to talk?" After all, he was going to get bored very fast if they kept talking about corsets and black lace."Oh!" Kairi looked as if she had just woken from a deep daydream. Visions of slow dances and handsome princes fell away into dust as she took stock of herself for the first time. The fit was snug, but not too ( Read more... )

Naminé looked a bit panicked when Aladdin suggested that he leave - was he going to leave her all alone with Kairi?! Not that Naminé didn't like Kairi, but... she pursed her lips, but said nothing. She didn't want to give Kairi the impression she didn't like the other girl. It was just so awkward, finally meeting the girl she impersonated four years ago. Naminé was still feeling guilty over that.

Watching Kairi admire herself in the dress, Naminé had to agree though: She looked wonderful in the dress. Much more than she would in any dress, even the dingy one she was wearing. Naminé cast her eyesa downward, playing with the hem of the white fabric once more.

She raised her eyes up though as Kairi asked if Sora would like it. Without thinking, she spoke.

"Sora would love to see you in that!" Naminé blurted out, trying to make Kairi feel better. She hated to think of Kairi being nervous about what Sora would like.

And then Naminé realized that she hadn't properly explained to Kairi (as best as she could) about how she even knew Sora.

... Oops.

Just as Aladdin was about to assure Kairi that Sora would like the dress very much, Namine suddenly spoke up. He stared at her for a moment. She hadn't acted like she had known Sora! What was this all about? He was tempted to ask her, but the girl looked so uncomfortable that he realized that she must have not meant to say that.

He could ask her later. For now, he could play along. He was good at that.

"Definitely, Kairi! He's going to love it. You should order him back here just so he can see it. I mean, you're a Princess of Heart, right? Can't you order him around if you want to?" He was teasing, obviously. After all, Sora had important things to do and couldn't be called back to the castle for something that was so insignificant in comparison. But he was trying to distract the redhead from the fact that Namine had said something that didn't make much sense.

Kairi, upon hearing Namine mention Sora's name, was ready to mark it as a case of another friend Sora made during his travels. But then Aladdin swooped in a bit too suddenly and a bit to quick to cover up her words. Thats what caused her to wonder.

"The other princesses say he'll be back soon, I guess I'll have to wait."

Meanwhile, Tanis was hovering over his next target, a quiet smile hovering over his face.

"My dear," he touched Namine's shoulder to gain her attention, "is that the only piece of clothing you have?" His smile was positively brimming with happiness. A bit eerie, really.

Naminé blushed, keeping her head down as Aladdin made his save, potentially stopping any questions. Was it really... that bad that she knew Sora? Probably, because Naminé never wanted to have to lie about something so major ever again...

But ... she didn't want to ever remember what happened four years ago. Even though she was cursed with those images for the rest of her life.

Naminé felt something touch her shoulder and she jumped a little, letting out a surprised (and relieved gasp) when she saw it was only the dressmaker, Tanis.

But... why that smile?

"Um..." Naminé looked down on her dress, before looking up at the dressmaker again. "No, I have other dresses, but they all look like this one," She nodded, refraining from explaining what made this dress a special one. Actually, they were all different in their own little ways, but only someone with a memory (and limited wardrobe) like Naminé would know how to tell them apart.
