Traverse Town had changed a lot since he was fourteen. It had lost much of its innocence. The whole world seems to be geared towards fighting the war and defending the people who appeared everyday. It was supposed to only be a way-station, a place for people to learn about the different worlds and then travel to them, but more and more of the

It took him a moment to register that his left hand was still grasping his shirt and necklace and has the let go he realized he was still on the ground, Keyblade in his right hand and legs bent and open from the fall. It didn't seem to pop into his head that he should stand up though, instead he watched the Heartless around him disappear.
He shuddered, as the last bit of the frozen grip left his heart.

The act lasted for only a minute, and it almost looked like the very presence of this foreign body was enough for the leftover Heartless to disappear into the depths, no matter how disturbing the Keyblade Master's Light was.
The figure, who didn't bother to take a second glance at the fleeing Heartless, caught the chakram once more before it disappeared into the night, leaving it to just stand there awkwardly leaning back. The open end of its hood slowly twisted over to where the Keyblade Master laid.
It took a step forward. Another step. Another. Wandering. And when it finally reached the young brunet, it swooped down, quietly kneeling itself next to him as if to take a closer examination. The hood tilted ( ... )

"... But I have to ask..." The hood twisted once again, back at the brunet's direction as he spoke. His voice, while holding no threatening tone, emphasized a kind of innocent curiosity.
"... Was that the Keyblade I saw in your hands just a moment ago?"

When Sora imposed the simple question upon him, a gloved hand slowly reached over to pull the hood back, releasing the spiked crimson tresses all over his back and shoulders, like they originally were. Those slanted green eyes, that usually held a world of deprivation like all Nobodies, had been brightened for the Keyblade Master.
Axel licked his lips a little moist them, chewing at the corner of his mouth absent-mindedly.
"Is it okay to? Will it drain any of your energy...?" He pointed out.

... Though the Keyblade and the Keyblade Master? Maybe it was something a more than looking 'silly."
The shine that coincided with the weapon's appearance reflected on the redhead's eyes, and for a split second the nobody flinched and took a step back. He was a fool if he forgotten how the Keyblade felt when it was brutally rammed into his thin frame those several years ago. Even now, his once calm motions grew into a slight caution, but Axel didn't completely stray away from the Light that hummed from it.
"To think that the fate of everything existing laid in the hands of the one who held the Keyblade," Axel gave a coy smile and lazily dragged his foot along the floor. "Talk about peer pressure at its peak."

He was more than just attached to the Keyblade, it defined him. He was the Keyblade Master, maybe he wasn't the intended, but he was what he was and nothing would take that away from him. Nothing. His big blue eyes looked the Keyblade with a friendly shine to them.
With Axel's words Sora looked back up at him. His smile was warm and sincere. "It's not that bad. At least I can do my part."
He meant both of those sentences. Sometimes he might feel a little overwhelmed, but it was worth it to know that he was helping people. That he had a job to do. That he was important. Any hint of the headache was gone by then, the Keyblade seemed to chase all unpleasant feelings away.

Ah, but this was a blank slate for him, wasn't it?
"Living without a purpose is... awful." Axel emphasized this with a twist of his lips, nose wrinkling at the statement. It tasted foul, but also very familiar.
The redhead lifted his hand to rub at his bleeding strands, eyes glancing over to the fountain and glided over to it. Since he was wearing all black his boots blended so well with his coat, looking almost as if he was a spirit floating along listlessly. He readjusted his coat as he sat at the edge, gloved hand reaching over to run itself over the trickling water.
"Do you want to sit?" Axel nodded over to the empty space next to him.

The Keyblade disappeared back into his heart, where its light nestled down as it were home. He moved carefully towards the fountain, thought of the fact that it was really the Keyhole, and sat next to the red-haired stranger.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" he finally asked, his voice and face carried an odd quality. The fading thought of a faint memory of a dream left a slight impression on Sora's mind.
He was missing something important.

"It's said that everyone has at least six copies of them existing in the universe," Axel gave a faint smile. "Maybe... you've met one of my doppelgangers."
Out of character, though what could seem like a plausible first impression for Sora, the redhead laughed a little at an added thought.
"Or maybe it's been so long that I've forgotten myself."
Even without any intent to, Axel always found a way to mock.

"It's a theory, of course. But a popular one, in fact." The red haired nobody used his free hand to trace small circles on the edge of the fountain. "And maybe in your case... it could very well be true."
But by then his voice became detached, almost as if something that Sora said caused him fall into deep thought as well.
Or maybe he was just biding his time? It wasn't really clear.

Suddenly he realized that he had been acting very rude. This man had saved him a lot of trouble and he hadn't even asked his name.
"Say," he started out, sounding curious. "What's your name anyway? It's kind of weird for you to know who I am and I don't even know your name, don't you think?"
