Inside the building, the air was still and pleasantly warm. Melting snow wrapped Faye’s hair into thin locks, and she brushed the flakes from the shoulders of her jacket before the coat could become soggy too. The inn was quaint, rustic by her standards. The look of it seemed to lend even more warmth to the space. There was no person behind the desk, but an open book rested on its spine with a pencil over one of the pages. Lots of names, although the inn itself seemed rather quiet. Most of the occupants must have been out for the evening. Morning. Afternoon. Faye realized that she had absolutely no idea what time of day it was. She’d never signed into an inn like this one…there wasn’t a computer in sight. She lifted her attention from the book and turned to Touma, hoping he was more experienced than she was.
