Riku did his best to block out the impending argument behind him, focusing only on getting Selphie and Naminé out of the Second District. He didn't want to know where the conflict between Axel and Sephiroth was going to go. It wasn't his problem, he told himself; he wasn't involved. He'd done his part by getting Zack out of Axel's clutches. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt at leaving Sephiroth alone with the unpredictable Axel. As much as the so-called General had pissed him off, he got the sense that Sephiroth was only doing it for the sake of his friend, and he wasn't sure the other man was aware of how dangerous Axel could be. Riku tried to tell himself, again, that it wasn't his problem--but he couldn't shake that nagging sense of doubt.
Focus. Focus. He pushed the First District doors closed behind them and let out a deep breath, but that was only the beginning. Riku turned his attention to the two girls behind him, the two friends who he had silently promised himself he'd protect. This excursion was not going as well as he'd planned.
Focus. First things first. Riku took a deep breath.
"Naminé, this is Selphie. Selphie, this is my friend Naminé."
There was a lot more to say than that, but for now, introductions would just have to do.
