Adam was alone in a large, almost lightless room. His steps echoed back to him as he tried to make sense of his location. Suddenly the normal shadows began to move. The Blackness crept closer towards him, his tiny circle of light growing ever smaller. There was nothing he could see anymore beyond the wall of dark that was now encompassing him. Eventually dark tendrils reached out for him, creeping up his human legs with an icy chill. He found he couldn't move as the shadows wrapped up and around him, crawling across his torso, his chest, his arms, and eventually up to his neck. He couldn't yell. He couldn't scream. He was frozen in place, unable to take any action. Finally, with one last glance at his surroundings, his head and face were devoured by the Dark. Instead of pain or fear, however, he felt an infinite calm take place deep within. A peace, as if all the troubles in his world were no longer concerning him. He was free inside his black prison.
The beast in the chair suddenly awoke, his head pounding a little. He glanced sleepily in various directions, trying to reorient himself. Reality came rushing back, pushing aside any memory of dreams. Hollow Bastion. I'm in Hollow Bastion. He stood, taking notice of the blanket as it fell to the floor. He smiled dimly. Belle must have done that. He took a moment to fall to all fours and stretch out his stiff muscles. He arched his back until satisfactory pops could be heard and then he turned towards the bedroom door.
Upon entering, he startled at seeing the empty bed, and quite suddenly the peaceful after-effects of his nap faded off. He silently cursed himself for falling asleep like that. He was supposed to be guarding her. Anyone could just walk in here and grab her, and he would never know because he was sleeping like a damn fool! He stormed out of the bedroom, intent to scour the castle for her. Before he reached the exit, he managed to notice the blanket again. He growled aloud to no one in particular and tried to take a breath to calm himself. Likely the blanket was from his wife, who he doubted would have time to throw on him if she was being kidnapped. Still, even if she had gone out for a walk, she should've stayed inside and kept resting, or at least woken him up so he could protect her. Again he cursed himself for his nap. He took a moment to grab one if his dark cloaks, and left their room with a door slam.
