Something was changing.
There were as more corridors than there were stars in the sky, new ones always forming, entire networks collapsing in response to the destruction of the worlds they opened up to. No. That wasn't right. They didn't collapse. They just stopped existing. But never this many, and never all at once.
He changed his course, emerging at once in Traverse Town's second district. The few shadows that scampered out of the portal after him went unnoticed. The light show in the sky even more so.
Zexion tilted his head upward, eyes already closed. It was darkness, strong and growing stronger, and he felt it crawl along beneath his skin with whispered promises. He held them like a cloak sometimes, wrapping them gently around others, layer on layer till they were crushed beneath the weight. So many promises. Zexion chuckled softly, light as a breath.
He wondered when the Superior would notice.
