Now that she had a taste for the world outside, Naminé could say for certain that she found the Castle fairly boring. Zexion and Xigbar, she assumed, had duties to attend to. And she had failed rather spectaculary at being friendly towards River. The witch did feel guilty for the distress she made the other girl go through - so much for a warm welcome. Perhaps this was a showing of how truly limited her social skills were - she just wasn't used to speaking to new people.
So naturally, Naminé would search for people who weren't new. Actually, she was looking for Riku once more, under the false hope that he did in fact return to the castle and maybe just didn't want to deal with the new company. Or perhaps he had left to find her and had returned for a brief respite.
But the more she searched, the more she realized that Riku was indeed gone. His room was desperatly empty, devoid of any signs of life. He was nowhere to be found, not training in any of his rooms, or not even sneaking a bite to eat in the kitchen. Naminé had already looked through 4 floors and was starting on the fifth, knowing her search was in vain, but she did it anyway. What else could she do?
The feeling of guilt was too heavy for her to bear. She needed to distract herself somehow, and although looking for Riku wasn't the best way to allieviate it, it was better than nothing.
