Was that really all right? The ship didn't belong to them, after all, and they had already put Touma through enough trouble. Will wasn't sure if Norrington wanted to help them in their endeavors, but he figured he, Jack, and Elizabeth would be working to find some solution.
Getting someone foreign involved in the whole affair probably wouldn't be the best idea. He didn't want to force Touma to do anything that would put him in danger that wasn't really his problem to begin with.
"We can't just use his ship," he protested, glancing from Elizabeth to Jack and then sighing. "And how many people could fit in there, anyway?" he asked, looking over at the strange contraption with a tilt of the head.
“I’d say about eight, give or take the fact that there be about that many seats in there,” Jack interjected. Seeing that he didn’t want to emphasize the point that he was actually looking at the seat and had thought about it prior to the question, he made sure to add his little vague clause. “If I were to take a guess meself.”
The Captain cleared his throat in order to seem a little less obvious. To give them a sense that he had a plan, without having much of a plan or hinting about a true plan at all-that was the plan! “As for me idea, I have wind of a key. A key that could very well solve all our problems! We get this key, we get what we want.” All the black inkies would be gone. Elizabeth and Sir William would get their plain peaceful port living, Norrington would.. Have fresh air, Sir Not-so-Frenchman would be rid of the lot of them, and Jack his key.
“We just have to have a way in which to go about searching for this..key.”
"A key," Norrington echoed dubiously. "The Royal Navy was unable to save Port Royal from its fate, but a key is going to be our miracle solution." He shook his head.
The pirate's idea still didn't sound particularly reliable or even logical. Neither Elizabeth nor Turner seemed deterred by that, however.
Norrington crossed his arms, glancing at Jack. "A way? I presume you already know where to find this key or at least where to begin searching for it."
Even the stranger agreed to the use of his flying ship and Jack Sparrow's idea brought the desired solution, it wouldn't do much good to set out in search of a mysterious key without any knowledge of where that search would take them.
Key.... Touma's breath caught when he heard that. Could Jack have referred to the Keyblade Quatre told him about? If it were true, he might not mind as much letting the group travel with him - not that he would've refused in the first place if it came to life or death. No one, not even the pirate who stole Tenku from him, deserved that fate.
"Are you referring to the Keyblade?" Touma eyed Jack, skeptical that the older man would really be able to wield such a weapon. At least, from the looks Norrington gave Jack, the archer wasn't the only one wary of the pirate's information.
Will's protest stung a little more than it should have, but Elizabeth was not discouraged. It was a do or die situation. If they stayed any longer, they would probably run into the dark creatures. There was no time for courtesy. "There are only five of us. And I'm sure Mr... Touma won't mind getting us past the monsters." Elizabeth's face softened into a smile as she looked at said archer, almost forgetting his name for a moment, but thinking she recovered well enough from her slip. "I think we could fit, don't you?"
Elizabeth's smile faded as Jack spoke of a key, and she soon was raising an eyebrow at Touma's comment. Keyblade? Elizabeth was certain she must have misheard him. "And what does this key unlock, Jack?"
A key. That was painfully vague, but he'd gone with the captain on crazy adventures with even less information being provided. He saw the sour look on Norrington's face, and while he might have felt it was stupid to follow after a pirate who was only looking out for his own well-being (because Will couldn't deny that), it was... the only lead they had.
He certainly didn't know how to get rid of the creatures, and he doubted any of the others did, either. At least Jack had some idea of what they were looking for.
...And apparently his information had some backing to it, considering the way Touma responded. The word 'Keyblade' was a bit ridiculous, but was it something important? Something that would help?
"We might be able to fit," he agreed distractedly, mainly focused on Jack and Touma. "But what is the Keyblade...?"
Keyblade? What on Earth was a key doing with a blade.. “Yes! The Keyblade. They key to a problem being a key itself makes it all the more convenient, don’t you think?” the pirate agreed with lack of hesitation. If there were some sort of recognition in it, then by all means he wasn’t going to go and protest a convenient out. This way he wouldn’t have to give out any information that he had, but conjure a tale which be believable enough to sound honest. Jack had made vague speeches about lesser items before this key would be no exception. So Jack started with an explanation riddled with vague wording and vivid hand motions. “The Keyblade is a mythical item. Many who have tried searching for it failed and were lost to the big blue. As far as what it unlocks, there are many stories about that. Some say it unlocks the key to swag unmatched, while others say it’s the key to the devils doorstep.” After all, anything could be sold if it were convincingly told. Not too elaborate but just enough detail to be honestly dishonest
( ... )
'Keyblade'? A legendary, mythical item, one that presumably no one had even held in his hand or seen with his own eyes before, seemed as unreliable as every word that came out of the pirate's mouth, but this Mr. Touma's apparent knowledge of it, and his reaction to hearing the word, could actually lend it some credibility. Provided that said Mr. Touma was a reliable source. For all they knew, he could be a questionable character himself.
"Do you have proof that this 'Keyblade' exists?" Norrington asked, turning his attention to Touma. Time was precious. While it would be rash and almost madness to chase after a key whose existence was not supported by any real facts and embark on some sort of fool's errand, it was almost as foolish to continue to stand here and talk without getting to the point. Jack Sparrow seemed to be skirting the entire topic. He still hadn't given any indication that he genuinely knew where to search for and find that 'Keyblade'.
"I..." Touma was taken by surprise at the attention suddenly on him, both because of his ship and because of the Keyblade. After hearing Jack's explanation of said mythical item, the archer was just more convinced that Jack didn't really know what it was. The only question left on that end was if he should correct the pirate's ramblings with what research he had or just let them keep thinking what they wanted. It was an annoying moral dilemma

There was a familiar feeling in the air. Elizabeth couldn't quite name it, but the adrenaline in her veins was telling her one thing: there was an adventure in the making here. It wasn't as appealing as it had been before she was supposed to be marrying Will, but...
A part of her admitted she was a little excited, at least.
"Heartless," Elizabeth repeated slowly, "Those are the black monsters?" She had never known them to have a name. People called them devils, monsters, beasts, but never by a proper name. Somehow, it fit. "I don't know if anywhere is safe, but anything is better than Port Royal at this moment
( ... )
Jack's explanation seemed sketchy, even to Will. It wasn't that it didn't sound impressive. It was simply that... he had heard the captain use the same sort of descriptions before. None of it was that concrete or convincing.
Judging by Norrington's expression and question, he felt the same way. Though when Touma chimed in, Will was thrown for a loop. He had a lot more details about the Keyblade - and the fact that it would get rid of the Heartless - and that there existed a person who knew how to use it - was reason for excitement.
Noticing that Elizabeth was brimming with the same enthusiasm, Will smiled and turned to Touma. "I agree. So long as we get out of here and hopefully to a place where we can find out more about this Keyblade and the person who uses it..." Well, really, what were the waiting for? He and Elizabeth were going to go, at least. He didn't know what the other two thought about the matter.
Whether or not the whole charade was convincing was one thing he did not want any of them to dwell on, which it already seemed that they had started to. The pirate would be concerned a little later on whether he lost his edge in dishonesty later, but for now the goal was set. Unfortunately even the lad who was so full of information was not full of the location of the key
( ... )
Keyblade, Hollow Bastion, Heartless... Words that were supposed to make sense but sounded like snippets out of fantastical yet completely unfamiliar stories instead. The existence of a legendary unknown wielder of that Keyblade only added to that effect. They were truly grasping at straws, if they went on their search based on this sort of information.
Norrington fought back the urge to voice just that. At the very least, Touma's information was something, he had to admit that. And if this 'Hollow Bastion' of his was a real location, it was possible that more solid facts would be found there.
However, while they were standing here, it appeared that a certain pirate was already trying to slip away again. Norrington glanced into Jack's direction as he made his way back on board the flying ship.
"I suggest we set out," he said, turning to the others again for a moment, "before 'Captain' Sparrow has any ideas that involve leaving with that ship, alone."
Narrowing his eyes at where Jack was trying - yet again - to 'borrow' Tenku, Touma headed towards his ship himself. "Good idea." He turned back to face the others. "Was there anything you wanted to take from this place? I don't know when we'll make it back to Port Royal."
Then something else came to mind, something that reminded Touma that these people weren't exactly used to the technology that he had. "Oh, and try not to touch any of the controls until you learn what they do. It's a little more...advanced than what you're used to."
Idly, he wondered what they would think of his laptop. He hoped they wouldn't try to destroy it for being posessed by a demon or something. Though he had backup copies of everything on the ship's computer, not having his laptop would be very limiting, and he would hate to go back home just to get a new one.
"Finally," Elizabeth muttered, perhaps a bit louder than she intended. She eyed Jack momentarily before returning her attention back to those in front of her. She looked down at herself.
Oh, right. She was still in her nightclothes. Looking back up at the town, she considered perhaps trying to find something in the abandoned homes. Then again, she hardly imagined she would fit into that ship wearing several skirts, and by the time she found something in her size, her father may catch them. So she kept her mouth shut and shook her head. "I've got all I need."
She had left with less, after all. This time, she had Will by her side.
