No matter how sleepy he might have been getting inside the cafe, the cold air and the darkness outside dispelled it. No sense in getting complacent. None of Traverse was safe, even the First District. He'd learned long ago to be suspicious of everything.
He shrugged his coat back on and zipped it up, covering his bare arms and stuffed his hands in his pockets. Damn, for once he was glad he was wearing gloves. It was really quite cold out here. He relaly wanted to get back to Hollow Bastion where it had proper days instead of permanent night.
And he was being so good. Look, he'd just walked past that inviting bar warmth even though the tempation to go in and get hammered was niggling in the back of his mind.
The doors to the Second District loomed large in front of him and he took a breath before pushing them open, readying himself for whatever might come after him. Once inside, he drew a length of wire, keeping it ready between his fingers. In his find he readied the spells that he knew. A last resort and he'd just have to hope that the energy expenditure didn't knock him out cold. That would really suck, although it would be one way of getting some rest.
He took a moment to orientate himself. If he remembered right, the Hotel was over that way. Not too far, although still far enough to get him killed if he was careless. Which he wouldn't be.
In any case, if he wanted to get there, he should get going.
