I wasn't soon enough before Aerith pushed the twin doors that would lead to the streets of Traverse Town open and breathed a much-needed breath of fresh air. Certain that she was alone, at least for the time being, the flower girl found an empty spot against the walls of the hotel that happened to be relatively free of snow and sunk down to the ground. She drew her knees up to her chest and raised her head to stare up at the perpetual, night sky. She'd forgotten to grab a coat, but the chilly air was hardly a concern at this point.
Aerith didn't bother to wipe away the tears that were coming now, finally allowing herself to realize and understand what she should've known all along. She'd read Ansem's reports. It should've been painfully obvious from just those alone, considering all the mysterious factors that had surrounded her father's case. He'd been a prominent, military figure, and there hadn't been a single clue regarding his strange disappearance. No arrests, no interrogations... Everything was fitting together so perfectly now. Aerith wasn't certain if she was more upset to have had her fears confirmed or more disgusted that she hadn't put it all together sooner.
At least the streets were quiet at the moment. She'd give herself a few moments and then go back in to apologize to everyone for leaving so abruptly.
