Kinda at a loss here; Hollow Bastion [Complete]

One wouldn’t call it the front lines, since you didn’t have to feel so bad about taking down something that wasn’t human. After a while dug into some trenches, he’d even started a tally of how many of the misshapen things he had taken down. It had been a battlefield regardless of the small attempts at making it into something else: soldiers were injured, and buildings disappeared along with the people who guarded them.

Havoc didn’t remember passing out or disappearing, but that seemed to be the case when he came around to the feeling of hot embers on his face. The hot prickles, along with the recollection he was previously in a fight, was enough to jolt him awake. Instead of the dirt trench that he had been in before, the floor was some kind of makeshift cobblestone.

Instead of location, There were two things that he noticed right off: One was his cigarette was still in it’s proper place, lit, and hadn’t burned out; The second was he still had his handgun out with his finger on the trigger. “So.. That wasn’t a dream.” Examining his own weapon before putting it away he added, “I think.”

One puzzled head-scratch later, a dazed second lieutenant wandered out of his makeshift lounging spot, and straight into a crowded marketplace. “Well.....Huh.” From a battlefield to a place where people were bustling about their business was, least to say, this day was starting to be chock full of unexpected happenings.

He was sort of at a loss for words.
