Experiments - Traverse Town [COMPLETE]

Jul 31, 2006 02:40

After he left the trio on Hollow Bastion, Zexion spent almost an hour weaving his way through the corridors of darkness between Traverse Town and Castle Oblivion, wondering if the darkness of the corridors could overlay the boy's scent and if, like the witch, he had fallen onto one of the numerous worlds in between. One thing was for sure: it was impossible to track him down now.

Several hundred corridors connected to Traverse at least, most leading in only one direction; into Traverse. Others led to to sealed worlds like Hollow Bastion or worlds on the brink of destruction and a few, he could only assume, looped endlessly. Zexion's affinity for scent didn't make him, by any stretch of the imagination, some kind of bloodhound. He had to be within a certain proximity and he had to be able to recognise the scent. With neither of these things apparently possible, he didn't waste otherwise valuable time.

A brief skirting of the more likely pathways and he set his sights back onto Castle Oblivion. However, the very mild annoyance that creased his brow when he returned did not last long. After a brief meeting with the Superior he was sent off yet again to collect something. An experiment which he was to care for for an indefinite amount of time. He took that to mean that he could do with it what he wished as long as it remained fed, watered and unharmed.

Huh. That was usually Lexaeus' job. Vexen was more interested in playing with his toys than caring for them and Zexion was hardly much better.

It had been a very long time since his last visit to Traverse Town. Though it was a nexus between worlds everything in it fit together like a broken stained glass window. So when Zexion stepped out of an alleyway fully cloaked he received no more than a few curious glances. He peered out from under his hood, searching.

He didn't know the scent of the girl he was looking for but DiZ seemed to think he would know who she was as soon as he encountered her. This made Zexion wearily fearful; he knew the Superior, after all.
