High above Traverse Town, Ed pressed her face against the windscreen and ooohed at the sight of neon lights below here. "Preeeetty..." she whispered. A wide grin stretched across her face, and she turned to face Ein, who was sleeping peacfully on the floor of the life raft. "Wanna go there, Ein! Let's visit! Can't miss-it!" she chirped, startling the dog out of his slumber. Edward grabbed the controls and wrenched them to the right, sending everything that wasn't bolted down - including Ein - skidding across the metal floor.
Bobbing and weaving erratically, the life raft - little more than a capsule with stubby wings - made its descent towards the city street. It caroomed over the First District, mere feet above the rooftops. Ed spotted the lights of a restaurant as it whizzed by and gasped delightedly. "FOOD!!" she shrieked. "DOWN DOWN DOWN!!" Ein yelped as the life raft took a nose dive right towards the street of the Second District. Ed must have realized the danger at the last second, for right before it crashed nose-first into the ground the ship pulled up and skidded on its belly for fifty feet before coming to a lurching halt.
All was silent for a few seconds, save the hissing of steam and the pinging of cooling metal. Suddenly, the hatch popped open, and a burr of fuzzy red hair peeked out. Ed blinked once, twice, then grinned. She giggled delightedly, grabbed the edge of the cockpit, and neatly flipped out onto the street. "Yaaay!" she cheered. "Ed is good at flying! Right, Ein?" The Welsh Corgi, looking much worse for wear, scrambled out of the ship and hurried away from the wreck as fast as his stubby little legs would carry him.
Ed examined the huge gouge in the street made by her graceful landing. "Owaaaaaah," she breathed. "Big trouble. Big trouble! Ed better run run run!" She looked around to make sure nobody saw her, clasped her hands behind her back, and began to walk away as casually as she could, whistling loudly.
