I usually avoid writing this kind of entry, but I couldn't resist spreading the news:
Official Press Release Regarding The Hobbit film adaptionYeah. It's really happening.
I know speculation has been abound for years, but this is the biggest official word so far regarding the film.

I remember being really disappointed when I heard that the Scouring of the Shire wasn't going to be in the film. After seeing the movie a few times, however, it became apparent that it would have felt out of place. The Return of the King reached the emotional climax with the destruction of the Ring as well as Aragorn's plight. And even though it would have given Saruman more to do (it's a shame that as it stands, he didn't have much of a role in the third film) it really wouldn't have improved the film as a whole.
I do wish they had filmed the scene where Sam was reunited with Bill the pony, :) that little plot point was never resolved.
But as far as directing goes, it's not so much a case where I want Peter Jackson (as that's not really an option anyway) as much as I don't want Sam Raimi. To be fair, the Evil Dead films are considered classics in their own right (I've never seen them) ...but the Spider-Man movies ...I guess they just weren't my thing.

But yeah, I can see how it wouldn't fit in now... doesn't make it any less bleh that it was left out though =/
At least Stefen Fangmeier isn't directing it XD Never actually saw the whole movie, but from what I did see and what I heared, the Eragon movie completely butchered the book entirely >.>
And holy crap did you really reply to that comment at almost 4:30 in the morning? I did not know anyone else stayed up that late besides me o.o

Yeah, the time is correct, lately I haven't been sleeping until 5:30-6:00 A.M. I had been up all night and the lack of sleep had gotten to me, which kinda explains the hastiness of this entry. Sleep deprivation does strange things to me.

Golden Compass is underwhelming too? I never actually read the book, but was planning on going to see the movie sometime...
