I usually avoid writing this kind of entry, but I couldn't resist spreading the news:
Official Press Release Regarding The Hobbit film adaption
Yeah. It's really happening.
I know speculation has been abound for years, but this is the biggest official word so far regarding the film.
As for me, my gut reaction after seeing the name Peter Jackson in ( Read more... )

Honestly, I'm glad he's just Executive Producer... not that the LoTR movies weren't good, but he cut out some of the best parts D: *coughscouringoftheshirecough*

Leet though that they're actually making a The Hobbit movie :D I haven't read that book in years... forgot where I put it and don't feel like buying a new one...

I can see where you're coming from (and I respect that) but I disagree. As you know, I adore the source material. But books and films are too completely different storytelling mediums. Many of the scenes that I loved in the books were underwhelming in the films and some of my favorite scenes in the movies weren't even in the books (or were expanded ( ... )

Well it's not so much a 'scene' as a whole section on the book that they completely ignored... denied ever happened in the films D:
But yeah, I can see how it wouldn't fit in now... doesn't make it any less bleh that it was left out though =/

At least Stefen Fangmeier isn't directing it XD Never actually saw the whole movie, but from what I did see and what I heared, the Eragon movie completely butchered the book entirely >.>

And holy crap did you really reply to that comment at almost 4:30 in the morning? I did not know anyone else stayed up that late besides me o.o

Eragon, the Golden Compass ... fantasy novel adaptions have been underwhelming lately ... to say the least.

Yeah, the time is correct, lately I haven't been sleeping until 5:30-6:00 A.M. I had been up all night and the lack of sleep had gotten to me, which kinda explains the hastiness of this entry. Sleep deprivation does strange things to me.

Ahh o.o I'm normally up til 5 AM or so, but I tend to not wake up til noon >.> When I don't have school/work/etc. that is.

Golden Compass is underwhelming too? I never actually read the book, but was planning on going to see the movie sometime...

It was poorly received by both fans and critics. Apparently a lot of the elements that were a highlight of the the books were removed from the movie. Shame too, I really had high hopes for it and the trailers looked pretty promising. I'll probably still see it, but I might wait until the DVD release. The book had some great concepts, never really hooked me though. It's worth looking into, you may want to check it out if the movie sparks your interest.
