Dear Boys Musical

May 17, 2008 02:29

When I went to find the new Higamyu, I found that the Dear Boys musical was being shared too! *___* I never thought I'd get to see it.

The musical adapted the series pretty well. I'm surprised that they really did do all the basketball scenes...because man, they have to dribble the ball, play out a pre-scripted game, and shoot tons of baskets on stage. @___@; That must have taken tons of practice. They did have this box thing that they threw the basketball in for harder shots. XDDD It lights up and everything.

Ahaha, I'm entirely unused to seeing females onstage. Anzaki's actress had a nice voice. Himuro-sensei was pretty good too, though one had to wonder why she was around since there's no girl basketball team in the musical. XD;

Aizawa was quite perky, though he didn't actually get a lot more stage time than the others, so I didn't really get the feel that he's the main character. Well, except for the songs when everyone's singing about how he's bringing a wind of change. XD; Otherwise, Miura actually gets to start a lot of songs, and Fujiwara gets to be mopey all over the place. I don't care much for the rival team, but Shimojo was pretty awesome despite how despising he is in the original.

I didn't recognize that Miura was Tenimyu's 3rd cast Tezuka until I watched the backstage video and he was trying on glasses. XDDD Is he a lefty? Since, he's always cast as a lefty character. He also mentioned on the website that other than Miura, he'd have liked to play Meiwadai's Yuuki Nozomi, who is also a lefty. Haha, Meiwadai is never going to be part of the musical though. That school hasn't even shown up much in the actual series.

I love Ishii's actor in that he says that he'd have liked to try out Shounan's Ayumi Fuse. Fuse~ ♥. Aizawa's actor says he'd have liked to try out Miura's part because the character is different from his normal personality. He really seems to be the cheerful type.

The five main characters. They have an intro sequence where all the players come in. Mizuho, the third years, and the rival team.

Here's the box I was talking about. They're smart to use something like this for harder shots. Imagine trying to act out a famous scene in the series and...missing the shot.

Aizawa shows up only to find that the 'basketball' team is playing mahjong. XD; The third years come in, beat Fujiwara up, and then Aizawa tries to convince them to start playing basketball again.

He does that by changing into his Tendouji jersey, which is um, a weird thing to do.

Himuro-sensei shows up and comments that Aizawa is indeed the legendary Aizawa that led Tendouji to victory in the interhigh tournament.

Everyone sings along with Aizawa about playing basketball, trying to convince Fujiwara. They were all so easy to convince. Haha.

Aizawa and Fujiwara go one on one with each other. Here I realized that they're actually going to be playing basketball on stage. Somewhat.

Shimojo makes his appearance. I wonder why he only has one button buttoned. It doesn't look good. ^^

Himuro-sensei introduced Anzaki and tells the team that they'll be playing their first practice match with Shimojo's team, Narita Chuou.

Aizawa wonders why everyone's looking so dark.

He tries to make 'Miura-chan' brighten up.

I forgot what they were singing/dancing about, but they looked kind of cool in this.

Miura recounts how Fujiwara hit Shimojo and that's why the entire team got disqualified.

Flashback to Shimojo's nitpicking of his team.

Fujiwara hits Shimojo and causes his glasses to fly off. I wonder if he really had to punch him. The glasses flew pretty far.

Miura sings solo on stage.

He goes off trying to convince the 3rd years to practice with them.

Igarashi's pushing his glasses up here. XD

Everyone sings about how great Aizawa is.

They try to convince Kondou to help the 2nd years practice.

Anzaki gets to sing a solo about her injury and how wrong it is for someone like Kondou not to play when he was a body that can do so.

He considers her words...

And ends up helping. They play out the match here...pretty much point by point. 0____0

Shimojo does a hilarious interlude, singing parts of other people's songs mockingly. One of the funniest parts of the musical.

The match starts. This is Moriyama, the ace for the rival team.

Fujiwara stops playing and instead wants to beat Shimojo up.

He yells at Aizawa that it's none of Aizawa's business since Aizawa's just an outsider. Fujiwara is such a bastard. ):

Kondou comes to talk to him and he ends up slapping some sense into Fuji. Literally.

The two coaches sing about how wonderful their teams are. I was surprised that Himuro-sensei got a part too. I thought she wasn't going to sing at all.

Moriyama tries to convince Shimojo to let them play without using tactics like hurting Fuji's leg. He sings! He gets a singing part too!

They put up their defense.

And er, Mizuho sings about playing with a smile, not for winning. |D but they care so much about winning!

...sweaty shots of everyone. This is 'Miura.'

Fujiwara.

The scoreboard looked cool.

Mizuho wins! Handshake.

Basketball is played with 5 players!!

Er, some part of the ending dance.

All the people on stage.

There's going to be a Dear Boys vs. East Honmoku musical in July. I guess they're going to keep going. XD; East Honmoku is much funner than Narita Chuou.

screencaps, medium: musicals, dear boys
