Yuletide and some anime ramblings

Dec 25, 2018 16:31

Happy holidays everyone!

Yuletide fics are live~. I managed to finish the treat I was working on super last minute (it doubled in length) and posted it right around when the fics were about to go live. I realized I didn't even have a title so came up with one just as I was about to post. The result was a title that's very similar to another fic of mine, whoops, when these stories aren't even from the same fandom. Interesting what my mind defaults to.

I stayed up to read my gift but haven't gotten about to reading any other fics yet. I received a lovely story about Azazel and Mugaro~

The other day, I wrote up some rambling thoughts about some anime I'm currently watching, but like everything I do lately, I just let that sit around... Now I have to update it given the new episodes that have already happened since, pft.

Thunderbolt Fantasy 2: I looked forward to this show the most every week, haha. The finale was great (I rewatched certain parts of the fight even, and I'm not even a big fan of fight scenes usually). I'll miss the show! I like the soundtrack of season 2 even more than season 1's, especially the opening. I've also been enjoying the red haired friend. I felt season 1 was more epic than season 2, more of an adventure with everyone teaming up with an end goal. This season feels less cohesive and is mostly just them dealing with the repercussions of losing two of the swords. But I quite enjoyed the finale and am definitely looking forward to season 3. Happy that it's happening!

Slime anime (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken): I really enjoyed the first episode and ended up reading the manga. Now I'm behind on the anime. :') Wholesome series, and very powerful slime. I imagine this might be what Ohmygod is like... an OP slime? I'll probably catch up some time. The latter part of the manga did feel like more of the same, but was still enjoyable. I thought I might try my hand at writing a oneshot from Veldora's POV, but then I realized that that basically happens at the end of each volume of the manga, and I always skip it, haha, since I get bored of the rehashing even though it's from a different POV. So why write a oneshot from Veldora's POV if I'm already bored by his actual POV... so yeah, Slime fic probably won't happen.

Bunny-sempai (Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai): Like many others, I almost didn't check out the series because of the name. But after a few episodes in, I did give it a watch, and boy was I fascinated. This series reminds me of Kokoro Connect a bit! I'm liking how things are tied together, and Sakuta is a pretty cool protagonist. His relationship with Mai is also refreshing. I love that the ending changes with each girl.

Ace Attorney season 3: Phoenix Wright anime is back! And it looks better than season 1, even the opening. There's also been anime originals to pad out the season. I liked the first one with a young Phoenix trying to contact Edgeworth. I wouldn't mind more anime originals that flesh out the characters. :3 Next episode seems to be a one hour special about Mia. Wonder if there'll be more Ace Attorney anime after this season. I'd love an adaptation of Apollo Justice. The latest train episodes made me feel like I was watching a detective series, haha.

SAO Alicization: I was enjoying the first few episodes given that for once, there's been a focus on another guy other than Kirito! But I noped out with the latest few episodes.

Tsurune: I'm a total Seiya fan. I thought I might be a Masa-san fan based off of how he looked in the opening, but then he cut his ponytail off. Masa-san, I'm disappointed... Ahem. Anyway, the anime is quite beautiful, and the characters are pretty endearing. I checked out the light novel after the first two episodes and read a bit of it, but I think I'll stick with the anime for the rest for now.

Honda-san (Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san): This short series has been pretty hilarious. Honda-san has a tough job. Hang in there, Honda!

I'll probably try more episodes of the running anime. I've only watched episode 1 and half of episode 2 so far. It seemed like it could be something that I'd enjoy.
