Oh, 2017 ended up being about the same as 2016 in word count. :3;;

January
If I Could See You Part 1 (Yuri!! on Ice, 1,760 words)
If I Could See You Part 2 (Yuri!! on Ice, 2,125 words)
Going, Going, Gone (oneshot) (Legend of Sun Knight, 1,219 words)
A Vice Captain's Tale Suggestion #10: Take Daily Baths (Legend of Sun Knight, 1,164 words)
January was not a bad start. I wanted to do some more random writing, which was how Going, Going, Gone resulted, as a response to a GYWO challenge. I thought I'd try my hand at participating in Get Your Words Out more than just reporting my word count for each month.
I started a new fic, in a fandom that's NOT Legend of Sun Knight. Wow. XD; It's roughly planned for around 12 chapters, out of which I've posted... three, now that I'm looking back on 2017. :') I do have the ending written, ahahaha. But how to get there is a whole different story. The fandom was also a bit too big and active for me, but maybe by now it's not as active? I haven't checked. XD
I said in the beginning of 2017 that I wanted to finish A Vice-Captain's Tale by the end of the year, so good job, past Lucathia, for getting started on that in January! Suggestion #10 was a Vidar chapter, one that I had planned for a long, long time already. Some of the suggestions took me a bit to work in, but I knew exactly how this suggestion was going to play out.
February
If I Could See You Part 3 (Yuri!! on Ice, 1,791 words)
My Friend, the Pope (in-training) Part 9: Laica (Legend of Sun Knight, 4,493 words)
My Friend, the Pope (in-training) Part 10: Charlotte (Legend of Sun Knight, 2,163 words)
February didn't go too badly either, though after my third update to If I Could See You, I really ran out of steam and motivation... Maybe it's time for a rewatch of Yoi. ;)
I updated My Friend, the Pope (in-training)! Charlotte's chapter was one that I'd written quite some time ago. We've finally reached the point in the narrative that I could release this chapter. So... it can't really be counted as words I wrote in 2017... oh well. I didn't count the words for a previous year, in any case.
Laica's chapter turned out much longer than I thought it would (somehow, whenever I write Laica, the chapters turn out really long???) Laica's chapter lets us see Grisia on a mission and how he fares there. :3 Only Elmairy, Vival, and Aivis left after this now, to conclude all of their first impressions of Grisia, the pope-in-training. Hmmm, three characters, three POVs. Doable. All right, 2018! Conquer this fic!
After not meeting the pacing for 2017's word count, I stopped trying as hard just about here. So no fic in March, sadly...
April
A Vice-Captain's Tale Suggestion #11: Think Outside the Box (Legend of Sun Knight, 3,493 words)
Adair! :DDD It's been a long, long journey, but finally, I got to write Adair's chapter. His suggestion is the think outside the box, and since that's the suggestion, I gave the chapter a title that broke the conventions of the rest of the titles too. XD All of the rest of the chapter titles are three words long, while this chapter is the only chapter that doesn't follow that convention.
No fic in May either, because of RL stuff and Fanime.
June
Grace -Mirror, Mirror- (Legend of Sun Knight, 681 words)
I tried to get back to writing with this response to a GYWO challenge. Mirror, Mirror is told from Grace's POV and ties in with the main story. He has a full story to himself, though I wonder if I'll ever be able to put it down into words. :')
July
A Vice-Captain's Tale Suggestion #12: Always Stay True (Legend of the Sun Knight, 2,332 words)
New Horizons -That Day Back Then- (oneshot) (Legend of Sun Knight, 4,088 words)
I wrote the last suggestion for A Vice-Captain's Tale! \o\ Finally, it's Tyler's turn, and he gets to spend quality time with his captain. ;) The point of the story was (as many people figured out from the very start), that Tyler already does pretty much everything Roland could want or need from a vice-captain. Though, while Roland may think this way, he does actually need help from his second in command. (They just don't know it yet)
I decided to give some challenges at Dreamwidth a try, and that was how That Day Back Then resulted. I don't know how many of these AUs I'll be able to finish, but they're pretty fascinating to think about. :3 So far, they seem to want to be 4k+ oneshots. I'll give them that, since they're supposed to be self-contained. I only finished one of these AUs so far, but I do have several more in the works. Most of them will focus on something in canon not happening the way it did. As a shared thread across all of these oneshots, I'm thinking I'll start each one with dialogue.
August was another month of no fic, as I was traveling and work also started soon after that.
September
A Vice-Captain's Tale Epilogue (Legend of Sun Knight, 1,580 words)
A Vice-Captain's Tale Extra (Legend of Sun Knight, 1,585 words)
I completed A Vice-Captain's Tale with the epilogue and extra chapter! \o\ I planned for this story to follow the way the LSK books are organized, so I thought it'd be fun to include an epilogue and an extra chapter. The epilogue was meant to parallel the prologue, where all the vice-captains went drinking and Tyler wasn't there. Well, now that the epilogue is here, Tyler does show up to their drinking session. :) (I do love it when things come full circle) I quite like the extra chapter, haha. XD Vice-captains~. Platoon members~~.
Oh dear, nothing to show for October and November. Moving along...
December
His Brother and His Friend (Kimi to Boku, 4,197 words)
I got matched with Jan for Yuletide! Which, amused me a ton because I wrote Kimi to Boku for Jan way back in 2009 for that year's Yuletide. For a wild, wild moment, I wondered if I should marathon Un-Go so I could write that fandom instead, hahaha, and not repeat the same fandom for the same recipient, all these years later :3;; But, Kimi to Boku is a series near and dear to my heart, and the series I was very into before Legend of Sun Knight. While I didn't write much fic for it, I did make icons, translate drama CDs, translate the manga, buy all the merchandise I could find of it, etc. It's been a blast revisiting it, though sadly the manga has been on hiatus since 2015. I love the humor and the dynamics between Yuuki, Yuuta, Kaname, Shun, and Chizuru. They're such awesome friends. :) As I was reading, I did find the later chapters to be more bittersweet as their final year approaches, so there was some of that in my writing. I hope one day we'll see Kimi to Boku continue. It seems like the ending should be near.
Total number of stories: 4 oneshots, 1 longfic started, 7 updates to continuing fics.
Total word count: 32,671 words. Huh, I average around 30k words in recent years. Maybe my word count is telling me something.
Fandoms written in: Legend of Sun Knight, Yuri!! on Ice, Kimi to Boku.
Leitmotif(s) of the year: Friendship and family(?)
Favorite fic:
His Brother and His Friend. I was quite pleased with how the fic turned out. :3
Best fic:
A Vice-Captain's Tale. Because it is COMPLETE. XD;
Most popular fic: Probably still
My Friend, the Pope (in-training) Most underappreciated fic:
His Brother and His Friend. There isn't an active Kimi to Boku fandom right now, not that Kimi to Boku has ever been all that active a fandom. But I think there was a slight surge back in 2012 when the anime started.
Favorite first lines: "Oh no! Is that what I think it is?" (A Vice-Captain's Tale extra)
Most fun fic:
Going, Going, Gone. It was a lot of fun writing this and making sure all the sentences started with the next letter in the alphabet. :D
Sexiest fic: None.
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Grace -Mirror, Mirror-.
New pairing/genre/fandom you never predicted writing in January: Yuri!! on Ice.
Hardest fic to write: New Horizons: That Which Was Lost. It was so hard to write that I haven't even finished it yet. XD
Biggest disappointment: Not completing If I Could See You.
Biggest surprise: Finishing A Vice-Captain's Tale. I thought it might never happen. :'D
Most telling fic: Uhhh, let's go with
That Day Back Then. What's next? I have some AU oneshots I'm working on. Me and longfics aren't getting along at the moment, so I'm hoping I can at least get back into the habit of writing with some oneshots. Besides, some of my multi-chapter works should really have been one long oneshot instead. So, I'm going to try harder to publish them as oneshots instead. We'll see. I hope to be able to finish at least one of my multi-chapter works from previous years. I think the next closest to completion is actually A Rose for Your Hair, but I don't think anyone is very much in a hurry to see that fic updated. XD We'll see where inspiration takes me this year (if anywhere at all... XD;). I'll probably check out some challenge weeks or exchanges as well. I've missed participating in challenges. Writing has felt a bit like writing in a vacuum lately, and I hope I can break free from that.
Also, I hope to work on some original writing. o/ Probably won't post that here, but there's that.
