Fanime 2017

Jul 17, 2017 16:57

An addendum to my previous Fanime post. XD Fanime for me was mostly buying stuff, going to gatherings to take photos of cosplayers, and going to the two main events, Music Fest & Masquerade.

Photo heavy post!

Re:ZERO gathering

I couldn't find the gathering location and instead found a different gathering at the location I thought it'd be at. I did eventually find the gathering (it was by the trees to the side of the main entrance where the registration line was the previous year). By then, the gathering was almost over. I snapped a few photos, while I'm in the rest of the photos and thus they were not taken by me. XD

Loved their pose here.

Perfect number here.

Here as well. :D

A bunny Beatrice~

He was running the gathering~

Got this pic from An, thanks to his photographer friend! We took a few group pics together. :)

Miraculous Ladybug gathering

The Miraculous Ladybug gathering was quite fun. They did really cute poses and cute group pics. Haha, I was snapping photos as the Sun Knight. (Sun, changing professions?)

Here's everyone in their civilian forms.

The Agreste family.

I'm just so amused by their flexing.

Cute. :D

One of them did the splits, and the other did it too. Dang. XD

Adrien asking for an autograph. XD

He got it. (I'm loving how Ladybug is carrying Adrien to the left)

There was a lot of carrying going on.

Lol.

Pretty much all the gatherings I went to did this. XD

Chat Noir and Adrien.

I really love how expressive they were!

Nino presenting-Chat Noir!

Alya getting a scoop on Ladybug.

Selfies, selfies everywhere~

Tiki telling Marinette to transform. XD

Action pose!

Best friends~

And a final group pic.

Fire Emblem gathering

The Fire Emblem gathering was at the bottom of the big stairs where the Shounen Jump gathering I planned to attend would be at, so I went an hour early and snapped pics of the Fire Emblem gathering. I still kind of wish I'd done a Fire Emblem cosplay. XD

This is what the place looks like. So many people! I squeezed all the way to the bottom of the stairs to get closer.

I still remember all those years ago, when I cosplayed Soren and we had a Fire Emblem gathering. It was just me, an Elincia, and a Titania... I think that was it for our gathering, lol. And now... XD;

By the time I got there, they were doing Fire Emblem 7. I think I just missed Fire Emblem 6. Don't know if they did the ones before those two! The Serra was amazing. :D I'm also pretty amazed by the number of FE7 cosplayers. Also, 2 Hectors! (Fire Emblem Heroes has really made Hector popular again!) I've never seen Hector cosplayers before this, or even all that many FE6/7 cosplayers.

Next was FE8, Sacred Stones, represented by one lone Innes!

Eirika and Ephraim arrived after the FE9 pics, but I'll put the pic here. XD I guess Innes wasn't alone after all. XDD

Gotta cosplay them together, huh. XD

Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. So few cosplayers. XD

And then we have Awakening, lol. There were so many cosplayers that I'll post a larger pic here. I wasn't able to fit everyone into the photo.

Next is Fates. Also very popular.

Man, the number of cosplayers for each game kind of match the number of heroes of that game available in Fire Emblem Heroes...A good number for FE6/7, not a lot for Sacred Stones or Path of Radiance, and a TON for Awakening and Fates.

There was also an Alfonse and Sharenas from Heroes!

Next up were photos by classes.

The mages. So many. XD

Have some close ups. There were already several Boeys despite Echoes only being released a week or two before Fanime.

The princes.

All the Odins in the back. :3

Sword units!

Have a close up of Xander and his glorious coat.

Lance units!

Healers~. Elise's hair is really quite something. I wonder if that wig is heavy... I always have trouble with long wigs being heavy and sliding backwards. Elise's is on a whole new level right there. XD

Assassins. That Gaius had a whole bag of candy that he purposefully spilled on the floor. XD Afterwards, a bunch of cosplayers went over and grabbed candy. XD;;;

Ax units. Always the least popular. :')

Manaketes and dragons! There was a Xane. :OOO

Is Corrin passing each other flowers??

The archers. So many Niles.

Dancers and singers.

There was a Reyson! :D

So Olivia decided to do this pose...

Laslow decided to follow his mother. XD

The laguz.

They were amaaaazing! :D

Shounen Jump gathering

The Fire Emblem gathering took some time to wrap up. I believe it went over the hour. XD The Shounen Jump gathering was next, and I was in several of the photos, which I don't have. XDD Anyway, here were the photos I took.

My Hero Academia. I overheard them say that they had so many people, they should have had their own gathering. XD They did hang around after the Shounen Jump gathering and continued to take photos.

One Piece~

Rurouni Kenshin.

Bleach.

Gintama. Their poses are hilarious.

Naruto.

Hunter x Hunter. Wait, is that another Kurapika hiding inside the building in the back??

Yu Yu Haksuho villains! :D

Saint Seiya, I think.

The little kids were super cute. :D

We also did a photo where all of us jumped. Since it is a Jump gathering. XD

Other cosplay

Pics of cosplayers I took outside of gatherings!

Saw him before the Miraculous Ladybug gathering. He looks so happy~

Maid dragon~

Here's another.

That eye! Those tentacles!

They were adorable.

So fitting. :D

Koro-sensei! (I wonder how people can see or walk around in cosplay like this... can't shop either!)

This guy looked like he was having so much fun rolling around on his cloud. XD

Ema Skye~

Game Shows
I went to two Game Shows. I find them fun to watch~. (Didn't participate though, haha)

First game show was anime trivia, with 15 contestants. Each person had 2 lives and could only answer up to 2 questions wrong. The goal was to stay standing until the end. They'd pick a category and get to choose if they wanted to answer the question or give it to someone else. In the 2nd scenario, if the other person answered it wrong, the other person lost a life. If the other person answered it right, the first person lost a life.

There were several questions about Haikyuu and Bungou Stray Dogs. Guy who got asked about the colors of Karasuno answered "black" but he couldn't get the second color. XD The "ship" category turned out to be about all kinds of ships, like the name of the ships from One Piece... Tom Cruise, etc. My favorite category was the 90s anime songs one. Several people actually couldn't get those right though... One of the questions was "In the English theme song of Sailor Moon, what does she win by daylight?" I think the person answered "victory," haha.

In the end, the last person standing got to move on to the next round of the game show. :3

In the end end, the very last person got asked 21 consecutive questions with 2 answer choices each, such as "In the Mario series, who wears red? Mario or Luigi?" She had to answer with the wrong answer. There was also a timer. If she got all 21 questions right within the time limit, she'd get $500. If she got a question wrong, she'd have to answer starting from the 1st question again, with the timer still running. She got so close! She was on the 21st question, which was "In Natsume Yuujinchou, what is the Yuujinchou? Book or scroll?" She answered "Book" and got booted back to the first question... But they let her try again. I think she went away with $100. :3;;

Second game show I watched was a partner game show. XD Four pairs went on stage. First pair was two guys, 2nd pair was two girls, and the third and fourth were one guy and one girl each. Partner A had to leave the stage, and partner B remained to answer some questions. When the partners came back, Partners A were asked those questions and had to try to think of how Partner B would answer.

I thought the funniest answer was: "Which place is the farthest east you've traveled with your partner?"

First pair answered, "Uh, maybe Los Angeles. Round 1." And when the other guy came back, that was how he answered, lol. I guess that's the farthest they've traveled together, even though it definitely wasn't east at all.

Some other questions they asked were things like, "Would your partner rather fight 1 bull sized hamster, or 100 hamster sized bulls?" "Who is your partner's waifu?" Etc.

Music Fest

X4 was at the Music Fest this year. Out of the group, I only know Matsushita Yuya. XD Their choreographed dances were quite cool to watch. Sadly, I didn't know any of their songs except for Yuya's "Trust Me" from Durarara!!, which he'd sung as a solo artist. It was really cool watching him sing it here with his group though. Group dancing to go along with Trust Me? Sweet. :D

He came to Fanime a few years ago by himself (at the time, I got an autograph from him, signed on a poster of him as Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji, haha), and now he returned with an entire boy band. XD

Masquerade

Aicosu were the MCs of the Masquerade this year instead of the usual MC. They were pretty amusing and commented about liking the outfits of the contestants. They themselves were cosplaying Overwatch.

There was a cool Tsubasa skit. That Mokona prop was super pretty.

All these two did was walk on, but they're so cute, so I guess that's all they need to do. XD

This mecha opened to reveal a body pillow, pft.

The Magi skit was all about... watermelons? XD It was set to a tune from Aladdin. Very fun. :D

Don't know where this is from, but very cool armor.

I don't quite remember what he did on stage, but mad props to him for his cosplay. Also, I think he won Best of Show.

The FFXV skit was pretty funny. It was done to the tune of Stand by Me, with the singing being just bleeps. The audience ended up singing along. XD

After all of the skits, Five Stories again took the stage and performed many songs from anime. They also performed Akatsuki from Akatsuki no Yona again. :D Last year, they cosplayed Akatsuki no Yona, while this year, they cosplayed the Fanime mascots, plus a random transfer student. They were actually my favorite part of the Masquerade, haha.
