I bought and finished reading all 9 volumes of 異願洛恩斯... /rolls around. No one to talk to with about the series. ):
Back to stuff I bought. There was finally enough sunlight for me to take pics! I've always been home too late, or it's been raining. -__-;
Human Doll Contract manhua V1 and Dominion's End V4.
Jiang Ziya and Xiao Xue are featured on the cover of Human Doll Contract V1. It's that infamous shirt of Ziya's~~ (then again, I think these chapters are all about the same day, so it makes sense that he's still wearing the same shirt.) Volume 1 contains chapters 1 through 5.
Lu Yang and Jiang Jiang are on the back cover.
Ziya and House Keeper~. One of the magazine covers. Nice to get it here.
Sample inside page.
V1 came with a booklet.
The booklet has some character sketches. (House Keeper without a ponytail????)
Dominion's End V4 features Xiao Sha on the cover. The cover is so bright compared to the previous 3 covers. I thought they'd all follow a gloomy theme!
You can take the wind effect off. XD
Dage is no longer alone with his green pants.
Insert art~. Dage and the Ice Emperor.
Character introductions. First up is Uncle, who finally has a name now! Jiang Lingqing.
The guy is Chen Yanqing, and the girl to the left is Guan Weijun. So cheerful.
The novel came with two clearfiles. First is Xiao Sha.
The other clearfile is of the girls. And yes, they do plan on making uniforms in the book. (They grab some clothes from a department store to alter.)
I bought the special edition which came with a bag.
Here's what it looks like.
Whyyyy must this pic only be available on a bag?? D: The quality...
Close up of Xiaotian and Xiaorong. Cuties. :') Xiaorong is seriously the cutest.
Dominion's End V4
V4 feels a lot like a new beginning, and the mood is considerably lighter than the previous three volumes. Some major things of note...(?)
1) Shuyu and Xiao Sha pretend to be a couple. :'D
With Dage's teasing in V1, I was pretty amused to see this happen. I doubt they'll actually end up together, but fake dating tropes are fun. Shuyu really got into the act, haha... Xiao Sha's a pretty good actor too. It was also amusing to see Shuyu pretend to be weaker than he actually is by playing the pretty boy act, but it was frustrating at the same time. He could've probably finished things off a lot quicker if he wasn't hiding his powers. Shuyu and Xiao Sha seem to have dropped the act once they returned to base, but I'd really like to see more of everyone else's response to the fake dating. Since Shuyu is taking each of the members into the city one-by-one, I guess Xiao Sha, who already had his turn, won't be part of it in the next volume. Too bad. I'd like to see more of him. It was fun seeing Xiao Sha consult Shuyu about his powers.
2) Xiao Sha's family
Xiao Sha seems to be from a very big, influential family. We meet one of his cousins in this volume. The cousin's appearance has changed because of the black fog, and he's been chased out of the family. It seems that something is up with that family, but it's all just hearsay at the moment. Maybe we'll see some conflict with Xiao Sha's family in V5?
3) Dage's powers
I thought we'd see more of Dage in this volume, but nope. Shuyu goes off into the city with Xiao Sha, so everyone else has very little screen time. But we do get to see Dage's "real" powers. It doesn't seem to be healing. It's more like time reversal? Or something along those lines... He even vanished one of the college students they brought back from the police station. I bet that's going to come back to bite them, since she seems to share the same surname as another character we've met. Dage also levels up to tier 2. :') Shuyu, I don't think you'll have to worry about Dage's powers being "healing" anymore. Shuyu also reveals to everyone the identity of the Ice Emperor. That part was pretty amusing.
4) Uncle's powers
Uncle's powers are finally revealed! It seems to be a super good memory. He remembers all the maps and stuff he's seen, and he has a lot of knowledge from his archaeological digs. Perhaps he'll become their strategist. Right now, he seems to be focused on designing their base. Since he had a character intro in this volume, I thought he'd play a large part, but not really.
5) Guan Weijun
The Guan Weijun of this world shows up. She's very different from the Guan Weijun of the other world. She's an energetic 25 year old whose power seems to be super strength. She's very charismatic and a good leader. Hasn't ever had a boyfriend. What I liked most about the meeting wasn't Shuyu meeting Weijun though. It was Shuyu meeting his mom. That scene really touched me. :') I didn't think we'd see such a meeting so early on. (Though I guess we are already 4 volumes in) Since even Weijun and her mom have shown up, the boyfriend will probably make an appearance too, huh? Even though he'll have no connections with Weijun this time around. Yu Wo seems to be going for a Weijun x Dage pairing. I see the fans are already disliking that. :'D
6) Xiaorong
Xiaorong, Shuyu's personal banyan tree, is the cutest! Shuyu has one major battle in this volume with some fairly disgusting caterpillars(?), but I didn't care much about the battle. It was just really cool seeing Xiaorong fight along with Shuyu, and it was utter cuteness when Xiaorong protected Shuyu. Later on, when Xiaorong shrinks back to its pot and then grows two legs to toddle after Shuyu... Ahhhhh, how cute can Xiaorong be?
We don't see or hear about Thirteen. (We only see him in the side story) We don't see the lab people either. Shuyu is always meeting new characters in each volume. I wonder when we'll see them again? Chen Yanqing does show up, but not until the end of V4. He seems like he'll have more screentime in V5, considering the new team/squad that Shuyu is starting.
I didn't get much of a sense of urgency from this volume. They're just slowly building up their new base and training. Oh, also, V4 feels different because Shuyu is now really sure of himself, now that he has his memories back. He still feels guilt toward the Ice Emperor and toward the other "Shuyu," but he no longer feels that he doesn't belong. And he now teases Dage back, hard. XD; It sure reads quite differently without Shuyu/Weijun's second guessing! (*cough* Now, he's even more shameless with using his good looks)
