J-Pop Summit this year changed locations and required an entrance fee ($25 for a day, some other price for both days). Debated whether to go or not. In the end, I attended, and it was quite fun~. It's definitely not packed this year, unlike previous years, because of the new location and entrance fee.
The new location! J-Pop Summit was held in Japantown in previous years, so it was convenient to eat and shop around there. This year, it's a bit far from everything, especially the New People Cinema for anyone who wanted to watch some movies during the event. The plus is that it's mostly indoors now and feels a bit like a convention. It kind of felt like Japan Expo!
By the time I reached the venue, it was already 1 PM. I shopped around first and looked at some of the interactive exhibits there. Those were cool~. Like, 360 degree cameras, scanners without a flat bed, etc. The stage was at the very end of the building.
Huge Titan head. XD
gem2niki and I took a look around the entire place and then started on our
1000 Treasure Hunter game.
Since the ticket for the game includes the entrance fee to J-Pop Summit, I thought I might as well give it a try~. The game was superhero themed. :D
We were given a booklet with puzzles to solve and people to find. I didn't know how it worked at first. Saw a random person from the game that was further down the storyline around the stage area, which wasn't what we needed. XD;; We headed outside to the food area to find the sidekicks and figure out our superpowers. It's really awesome how enthusiastic the staff were.
Me: "I want to be a superhero...?"
Sidekick: "You want to be a superhero? Great! Show me your amazing superhero logo!"
*shows them my drawing of a fishbone*
Sidekick: "That is one cool superhero logo! Well, I have some clues for you!"
I took my time figuring out my superhero power while eating lunch, and then after I finished eating...
The sidekicks were all gone!!!
DDDDD:
We were supposed to report to them our superhero power to complete the game...
With nothing much we could do, we headed over to the firehouse building to the side where we saw a bunch of people holding booklets like ours, but then we noticed that they were holding different booklets!! DD: A continuation! We were only on book 1...
A friendly staff member explained to us the storyline (if we had been able to continue and save the hostage by finding clues around the venue), and she let us continue playing with book 2, which included "training" where we had to shoot arrows, balance a tennis ball while walking on a beam, and crawl under or jump over hurdles without ringing the bells tied to them. That last one killed my legs!!!! There was also a book 3 after that, but most of the staff had already cleaned up by then... For the finale, we grouped together with three other people with different color rings (forming a group of 5) to reach the mastermind villain who took our picture while we did our superhero poses. XDD
It was fun! Too bad I wasn't able to do all of the tasks. It was a much longer game than I thought it'd be. XD I shouldn't have taken my sweet time. XDDDD Would like to try it again one day.
The stage! After we explored the vicinity a bit, we headed back. It's a j-pop event, after all. Leaving without listening to the musical guests would be a waste. Eir Aoi and Jam Project were both there! :D Eir Aoi sang both opening songs of Sword Art Online, as well as a few other songs. Jam Project came on after her and sang songs from One Piece, Utena, Dragonball (Cha la, head cha la~~~), and several others. They were jumping and singing with so much energy~. With how close we could get to the stage, it felt quite personal~. It's too bad for the guests though. I wish there were more people watching! But by evening, a lot of people had already left the venue.
We didn't get home until 1:30 AM! So late... So tiring... :'D;
Stuff I bought! Plus the game booklets. My power ring was yellow~. Yellow ranger~
Slaine~~~~~ With a bonus Inaho XDD
BTW, I don't ride buses much. I don't know if this is common or not, but I was so confused by the bus stops on my trip this time. /ignorant Lucathia
It's just a painted curb! No bus stop sign? D: How do you know which buses stop there? If I hadn't seen a bus stopping at the curb here, I wouldn't have known it was a bus stop... Even after I saw the previous bus stopping here, I was still doubtful. Well, I learned something new. XD;; On my way back, the bus stop was similarly some painted words on the curb.
