funpotexchange fic for xiahwase
I posted my exchange fic for xiahwase over at funpotexchange. Will be archiving it here in this journal too, probably within the week! Would love any feedback about the fic~
♥ Hametsu; Ruin and Salvation (Prince of Tennis, Tezuka/Ryoma, 4,480 words)
AU, high fantasy. There existed many races in the land of Zenkoku, one of which was the mamono, a cruel and heartless race that was born to rule. However, they had one fatal weakness -- their hametsu, a single person they could not bring themselves to harm. Some said a mamono's hametsu was their downfall and never wished to meet them, while others claimed the opposite, that they could not live without their hametsu. But really, Ryoma understood none of this.
I really surprised myself with writing this fic. What did I write?? XD; I mean, I even told myself that I wouldn't be writing AU?? Because I love writing non AU fic!
Xiahwase mentioned liking Atobe/Ryoma, Tezuka/Ryoma, Yukimura/Ryoma, Sanada/Ryoma... all of which I adore a ton. My first idea was a U-17 fic since these characters are all conveniently present in Shin Tenipuri... but then I got into my mind the idea of a fantasy verse centered around the idea of "hametsu" (inspired by Yu Wo's novel GOD)... Which resulted in this fic. I still had much more I wanted to write (I mean, Yukimura and Sanada haven't even shown up yet) and a lot more politics I wanted to touch upon, with people trying to ferret out the hametsu of others, people claiming someone to be their hametsu when they're not, etc (oh Yagyuu and Niou, how I wanted to bring them into the story)... but this was all I managed. I never did get into how dangerous hametsu can be. I doubt I'll visit this verse again, but it was fascinating to explore! Endless possibilities! *___*
I truly love how exchanges can get me expanding my horizons because this is something I wouldn't have written on my own~. World-building is one of my weaker writing skills, but I so got to exercise that here. :3
I still have a lot more fics from other people to read and comment on. So many stories went up around the same time! So many amazing fics and artwork!
I'm also very behind with a lot of online stuff, including TCG and fanbook. Busy week ahead of me though, so my responses will still be slow. The aim is still a May 5th release for Colors though!
