Ame Nochi Hare, Akatsuki no Yona

Shoujo manga talk! Or, what I'm currently reading.

Ame Nochi Hare / Clear Up After Rain

Five high school boys caught in a spring storm end up changing into girls whenever it rains. This is one of my more favorite genderbenders.

I love the art style (Hazuki~!), and you can easily tell the difference between their boy forms and their girl forms. What's charming about this series is that it focuses on subtle differences between life as a boy and life as a girl, and the characters take notice on how others behave differently around them depending on their current identity. Even though the genderbending is a large part of the story, it's not all about their trials at living a double life. I feel the genderbending part is what serves as a bond that brings them together and allows us to learn more about each of them and their background. I look forward to reading more! :)

Favorite character goes to Hazuki. <3333 Gosh, him and his indecisiveness and lack of self-confidence... Poor Natsuki. Hazuki just brushes him off. I find the scenes between Hazuki and the dorm leader very interesting. Am now waiting for the dorm leader to become more suspicious, though I also want to know if he has any feelings for "Tsukiko".

Touma is awesome. Love how much he cares about Hazuki! Maki is cute. <3 Though whoa, did not expect his background. *rereads* Ahh, now I see that it's been hinted from the start.

Akatsuki no Yona

The sheltered princess ends up having to flee from all that she knows and goes on a journey to find new companions to fight by her side.

Since NG Life, I've been a fan of Kusanagi Mizuho. I like her stories, especially since romance usually isn't the main point of her stories. Akatsuki no Yona starts out pretty typical, with a girl pining after her love and doing nothing but that, but Yona didn't disappoint me. I was waiting for her to grow stronger! So far the story hasn't been amazing, but I find it enjoyable, and how can I not like a story when they're going around gathering four legendary dragons? XD;

Yona
I like her with short hair. In the beginning chapters, I didn't find her too interesting, but I hope she'll grow into herself! She hasn't needed to do much at all to convince people to join her, but perhaps that's not the main point of the story...

Hak
Always the protector and never seen as a love interest by Yona. Poor Hak. ^^;; He seems tough, but he's quite a softie when it comes to Yona. I loved the scene where Yona says that he's the only one who she doesn't want calling her "Yona" because she wants him to continue regarding her as the princess, to not forget her father... Poor Hak. ^^;;

Hakuryuu / Kija
White Dragon! With a dragon's arm (reminds me of Allen's arm from D.Gray-man). I love the way he talks. XD; So formal! I thought he'd be one of those "cool" characters, but he turned out quite comical with his interactions with Hak, and his formal talk just makes him even more amusing. He lives to serve, which I thought was an interesting choice for the first dragon Yona meets. Makes storytelling easier! Hak calls him Shirohebi (White Snake). XDDD

Seiryuu / Shina
Blue Dragon. He wears a mask and was isolated in his village, regarded as a cursed boy. The only person who spoke with him died when he was young. At the mere age of four, he tried protecting his people with his eyes that can paralyze people, resulting in them becoming even more afraid of him. I find him very cute with his eager interactions with Yona and the others. He reminds me a bit of Senri from +Anima in that he's not very good at interacting with others but is very kind and holds a childish charm to him.

Ryokuryuu / Jeha
Green Dragon. His special power lies in his left leg, I believe, so he can sure kick! With him comes the character who doesn't want to serve their destined king since he likes his current life. Even though he senses the other two dragons, he's doing his utmost not to meet them. I like what he brings to the story! Volume 5 ends with him finally meeting Yona. I wonder how he'll react... hope he doesn't just give in right away.

Yun
A smart boy who calls himself a bishounen. XD; He's only a year younger than Yona, but I always think of him as a young boy... he serves as the navigator and is versed in medicine and many other fields. He's never ventured into the outside world before though, which I find amusing... because none of the characters in their current party have ventured in the outside world before. What a group of sheltered people...

Soo Won
The... antagonist? Not too sure what to think about him at the moment! He hasn't been in the story much in these more recent volumes. I bet his story isn't as clear as it seems, though it'll need to be something big, or else I'll feel his motives were just a plot device.

Can't wait to read more! \o/
