Dear Writer letter for parallelsfic, a rare Asian fandoms secret santa fic exchange!
As this is a fairly late letter, please feel free to disregard if it's not helpful or if you've already started writing!
My general likes: I like gen, friendship, family, am not opposed to romance though I generally don't care for it as much, especially stories that focus on the physical aspect of relationships. What I like leans more towards character studies, stories that follow the tone of the original source, stories that show how characters get from one point to the next (so if the focus is a relationship, I like seeing how they got there!), etc... I'm fine if you venture outside of my likes however! I am the type to completely focus on favorite characters, so as long as the specified character plays a huge part, I'll be happy!
This time, I tried choosing fandoms that I didn't think I would write or be able to write, or I just plain want to see more of them. |D Apologize that only one is probably a short enough source to consume if you were hoping to have more options than one series!
1. Kuragehime | Princess Jellyfish
Otaku girl in love with jellyfish meets fashionable princess... who is a crossdressing guy.
I would like to see fic about Kuranosuke. I love it when he has his hair tied in a little ponytail and would love to see that get into the fic somehow. I'm not up to date with the manga but have watched the entirety of the anime. Something set after the events of the anime would be very cool! Perhaps... Tsukimi and Kuranosuke working on their next dress? Kuranosuke coming to terms with his feelings for Tsukimi? The rest of the residents meeting Kuranosuke when he's not crossdressing? Kuranosuke and his brother, bonding and getting to know each other better?
I am a huuuuge fan of genderbending, and I am a huuuuge fan of Kuranosuke. So I would love to see more of him even if it's not anything I outlined in my request! Maybe more of his background? Him meeting his mother? Since I signed up, I have caught up with the manga scanlations, so I'm entirely fine if you use either manga or anime canon!
The anime is 11 episodes long and the scanlations of the manga are up to volume 7 at the moment! This is a short enough series to consume if you're not familiar with it, I hope!
2. Minamishineyo | You're Beautiful
Female nun gets roped into a boy band in place of her twin brother. So yes, she has to crossdress. |D
I would like to see Go Mi Nam and how he interacts with the rest of the group, especially with Hwang Tae Kyung. Does he try to fit in (probably not)? Do the group members miss Go Mi Nyeo? Bonus points if Go Mi Nam's rising popularity is touched upon, and if fans comment on how he's changed!
Another series to do with genderbending, this one is a Korean drama. I requested this series particularly because I cannot even begin to attempt to write fic based on kdrama myself. My favorite character is Hwang Tae Kyung, so I'd love to see him get some of the focus! I specified Go Mi Nam since I'm very curious about what happens after the end of the series with him. He didn't get much screen time~.
This drama is 16 episodes long and took me quite a long time to watch... but then, I'm super slow at watching drama. :'D
3. Suikoden Tierkreis
Group of youngsters end up fighting against an organization that believes the future is predetermined.
I would love to see how Liu arrived at Citro and how he came to become friends with Sieg and the others. I like themes like adoptive family, overcoming loneliness, strong bonds between friends, and such.
A video game (and it has nothing to do with genderbending, haha. I was almost going to request fic with 4 series that has to do with genderbending!). I haven't actually finished the game. Am only maybe halfway, but I am in love with Liu (I love strategists~) and would love to see fic about him. Any fic at all. This is another request for a series that I don't think I'm capable of writing!
As this is a game, it's probably not that easy to play it and then write it if you haven't played it yet! The platform is the DS.
4. Yu Yu Hakusho
Guy dies, gets revived as a spirit detective, and then helps the spirit world out by kicking demon butt.
I would love to see Kurama bonding with his stepbrother, Shuichi, and/or his family discovering his identity. Bonus points for Shuichi being proud of his brother, fangirls, bonding time with the rest of the tantei, Kurama trying to fit in with human society, and Kaito making a witty remark.
This one is a series I've always wanted to write but have never gotten far with writing! And I have read plenty of fic to do with Kurama and his family, but not recently. It is my favorite type of fic so I will never tire of it and I can never get enough of it, so if Kurama family fic results from this exchange, I'll be super happy! Kurama is my favorite character ever! Certainly my first favorite character. XD;
