On the advice of a friend, I got Deloused in the Comatorium. I don't know if I'm enjoying it or not! It's really strange.

I think that album steers a course just the right side of overblown pretentiousness.

All the rest of their stuff I've heard goes way the fuck over the line and doesn't look back.

So yeah. That's a good album. I wouldn't really spend any time looking into what the lyrics all mean though. It is rather like finding the man behind the curtain.

I stopped trying to understand the lyrics during the middle of Drunkship of Lanterns. I'm still utterly confused and unsure whether I like it or not.

I haven't listened to the one yet, but their next album, Frances the Mute is awesome! Also, you should check out At the Drive-In, which was the former band of two members of The Mars Volta (I like Relationship of Command).
