The coming of the PS3 and the Wii

Well, the X-box 360 has been out for a while, and though I have fun playing it at friend's places I don't have any intent on picking one of these up.
The PS3 really doesn't do anything for me at all, and Iwill not purchase this system solely based on the fact that it costs way too much.
Now The Wii on the other hand looks awesome, and I can't wait to get one, but being broke limits me from buying one at the moment.
So what games have I been playing you ask? well, first I've got X-wing (the 3.5" floppy version) working on Windows XP and this game is one of my absolute favorites.

After many years of not getting sound or joystick support in Win XP, I've found the answer! VDMsound! VDMsound is a program that helps turn your new soundcard into a virtual SB16, and it also smooths over some of issues relating to native DOS programs running on XP (like USB joystick support, which now works!). This game is timeless, and it's definitely a treat to not have to hook up my win95 gaming computer anymore.

The screen cap above is of a game I played way too much of on the C64 when I was a kid - "Impossible Mission" I finally got a good C64 emulator for winXP and couldn't be happier playing this game. This is one of the best adventure games ever made and is so much fun to play again.
Getting older has it's perks. The feeling of nostalgia I get from playing these classic games is so much more exciting for me than the newest next gen systems with good graphics, and high price tags (excluding the Wii, that I'm drooling for right at this moment:) ).
