Now Accepting Submissions for the Lubricus Art Gallery & Craft Fair

Apr 17, 2012 20:23

The Department of Creative Endeavors is proud to present two opportunities for the artsy and crafty to display or sell their work at
lubricus this August.

Art Gallery
During the Con, fanart will be displayed throughout the Common Room and Beyond the Veil, a special veiled section of the common room set aside for NC-17 rated pieces. Attending artists will also be invited to participate in a docent led tour of the art gallery to talk with viewers about their art. In addition, all displaying artists will have the option to donate or sell their art through the Lubricus Silent Auction.

2D and 3D art pieces from attendees and non-attendees will be accepted, and transportation to and from the con is the responsibility of the displaying artist. In keeping with the slashy nature of the con, preference will be for slash-focused art. However, with the exception of explicit het, all fanart genres and ratings will be considered.

Those interested in displaying their work are asked to register each piece of art here by June 15, 2012. Notification of acceptance of artwork will be sent by June 20, 2012 with specific details regarding the tour and silent auction.

Craft Fair
During a 2-hour break in programming, fandom crafters and artists attending the con will have the opportunity to sell their wares to other con-goers.

Crafts and art might include homemade jewelry, DE masks, character plushies and dolls, stationery, wands, scrap-booking supplies, knitted and crocheted items, original artwork and reprints (much like an Artist's Alley), and works of fiction among other things. Crafts and art need not be slashy (although slash is always encouraged), but cannot violate hotel policy regarding the sale of food and alcohol (this means no home-made butterbeer, alas).

There is no fee for participating in the Craft Fair, but attendees interested in selling their fandom crafts and art at the fair need to register in advance.

To do so, send an e-mail to ArtsyCraftsy@bf4f.org by June 15, 2012 specifying the following:

  • Your name(s)
  • The amount of table space you will need (e.g. half table, whole table)
  • A brief description of the arts and crafts you plan to sell

Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 20, 2012 with specific details regarding set-up information, and display options.

If you have questions or need further clarification on the Art Gallery or Craft Fair, ask them here or send an e-mail to ArtsyCraftsy@bf4f.org.
