AIUへようこそ!

Day 2 started after breakfast. I got up three seconds before my alarm went off at 7 (breakfast is at 7-9), but decided to go back to sleep because aughhh so tired. Ended up getting out of bed at 9:30.

We went to the caf to do some official stuff--get a hanko, register as a resident, and open a bank account. I'll be done by next week or so! After that, we had a campus tour led by Masa and Miko (the girl who helped me with my stuff last night!). They're super nice. :D Just wish I could remember all the buildings soon; it's a small school and everything's connected.

Lunch was afterwards, and yes, I ate some of my vegetables. As expected from one of the top rice growing prefectures in the country, the (eat-all-you-can!) rice was great. The food was good in general.

Left: Multi-purpose hall; Right: Lunch! Boiled meat, veggies, mango?, miso soup and rice.
While waiting for our 4PM orientation, we went to the school "flea market"! I dunno if that's a regular thing (I wish it was) or if they just have it at the start of the sem, but yeah, everything looked pretty cheap. Second-hand だから but I don't mind. I bought a pillow and some hangers for 200円. I was tempted to buy a hairdryer, but I think I can survive without. Anyway, after bringing it up to the room, I uploaded pictures, fell asleep (lol, still tired), and watched some parts of One More Chance. 笑 Although I'm not a John Lloyd or Bea Alonso fan, it looked alright.

Orientation afterwards! They just reviewed the week-long orientation schedule, and welcomed us to the school. The lady (I think she was Fujiwara-san, the International Relations person) mentioned part-time jobs, so I'll try looking into that asap! A computer orientation followed, and we made some school accounts--a gmail!, moodle, etc.

Thennnn, a welcome party at the caf! We ate by assigned groups. I met Raquel (Mexico) and Kota, who surprisingly just came back from the Philippines after 2 years of high school, to take uni in AIU. There was a group dynamic-sort of game where you had to get certain people's signatures, and I finished first! I won a pretty hanko case with a built-in stamp pad. I'm sure that's gonna be useful. 笑 Lotsa weird dancing and a congo line after--but the person in front of me in the line was way too tall!

Left: Thank you for the warm welcom.; Right: Me and One-chan
I also met Marcela (Mexico), and Hiroko, both of whom are interested in touring Tokyo with us around September 6-10! Hiroko's actually from Tokyo, so she'll be real handy. 笑 I really hope it'll push through! The last time I went to Disneyland was when I was seven, so... it's okay to spend for this, right? 笑

As for tomorrow, there's gonna be a nationwide fireworks festival! Fujiwara-san is estimating 700,000-1,000,000 people will come to Omagari (downtown Akita) for the festival. Even if it'll be crowded, I think it's an experience worth having! So we'll be going along with the Mexicans, and some Taiwanese girls I met (Rebecca's all I remember). Gotta wake up on time for breakfast and the bus! Wish us luck. 笑

*EDIT* My roommate decided to visit! She came from the room next door so she's still fixing stuff, but hi Hikari! ^^ She's going to the fireworks festival too!

Sorry for the pjs and tired face. (。-_-。)
